When I first began looking into Vantage TEFL, I admittedly was a bit skeptical about all the positive reviews. A program with no negative reviews seemed a bit odd. But then I went through the process of becoming certified by them and I can see now just why they are so highly rated. The team are very friendly and supportive, and I felt inspired by their occasional messages of motivation and reaffirming language. I’ve met teachers who went with other TEFL programs in Thailand – they were not so positive about their experiences. For the record, I studied online and with the onsite section at their downtown Bangkok office. Vantage TEFL is a 5-Star program. without doubt.

Taking into account the price and the possibility to use the certificate for online and in-person teaching, I imagine this is likely one of the best online TEFL/TESOL courses you can choose. One aspect of the course that I thought excelled the most was the customer care support. All of my emails and messages were answered in minutes or within an hour or two. Really incredible service. I started out teaching online and have accepted an in-person teaching job in Bangkok, Thailand. For online teaching all I had to show was my TEFL/TESOL certificate. For the job in Thailand, I had to show my college degree plus the TEFL/TESOL certificate. Another definite advantage of choosing this program is that the certificate doesn’t mention that it was taken online and looks like it could be from a 4-week in-person TEFL/TESOL/CELTA course program. Very happy with the choice I made. No complaints.

TEFL in Thailand: During the lockdown, after losing the lion’s share of my contract jobs, I began looking to do some formal online learning. I didn’t know you could teach English online. At the time, I couldn’t understand how you would go about teaching a language virtually. I knew that the pandemic would likely create a longer-term downtrend in the number of face-to-face work opportunities, and earning a living by working online seemed to me to be the smart move.

Despite this, I also want to live and work in Thailand at some point in the future and this is why I searched for Online TEFL courses based out of Thailand. Vantage TEFL, which is based I believe in Bangkok, offered an online TEFL course with the option of some virtual teaching practice as part of the course package. I’m certain there are other equally good Online TEFL programs based in Thailand – Vantage TEFL was the one I chose because they are one of the top-rated TEFL online programs.

I can write that the course was well presented and the course tutors clearly understood their subject matter. It would have been great to have been able to teach those classes in a classroom but I didn’t have that option and the virtual teaching experience anyway was a lot easier to organize and manage than I had expected.

The great thing about Vantage, is, if there’s something you don’t understand or need help with, you can ask them and you just wait a day or two tops for a reply. The school’s office staff and my tutor were really sweet people and I had the wrong impression they cared about their work.

Since the course, I’ve been teaching English online and have gradually built up a 30-hour-week schedule with reliable and well-paying students. The majority of my students are from South Korea and Japan, with a few also based in Thailand. Vantage saved my sanity in a year when a lot of people were losing their sanity and I am hoping the borders open up soon without any restrictions for the fully vaccinated so I can see why everyone raves about Thailand so much! I have the feeling that sometime in 2022, possibly at the end of the year, there will be a return to something resembling travel in 2019.

I recommend the Vantage TEFL Certification program.

I took this course back in 2018 and haven’t looked back since. Even with the whole Coronavirus and whatnot, I’m still enjoying my life as an English teacher. I started out teaching in Bangkok but I didn’t like it so much(lots of traffic and lots of people)so I moved north to Chiang Mai and discovered a true gem of a city. Chiang Mai is WAY MORE chilled than Bangkok is. It’s a lot smaller too and buckets are friendlier. To make a good living up here you should (ideally) teach private students as well as your given schedule at the language school you work for. You must work at a language school to qualify for the Thai work permit (they are hot on this here) and then you can begin charging really good money for privates.

My typical working day begins at 8 (in the morning) and I teach until lunchtime. Afternoons are spent either chilling in a cafe or getting in a few hours of yoga. Then it’s teaching again until 6 or 7 pm and then I have my evenings to meet up with friends(foreign and Thai). Everything is incredibly cheap up here and the food is awesome! Plus Bangkok is only 1 hour and a bit of flight time away and the nearest beach is then just a few hour’s drive onwards. You absolutely must come to Chiang Mai and visit the surreal town of Pai too. I just love it up here. TESOL TESL course certification with itoi TEFL was awesome! Teaching English rocks!

Is University Toronto TEFL Legit? An impressive course.

For those of you with a bit more cash available, I can definitely recommend paying the extra and taking the OISE University of Toronto TEFL | Teach Away TEFL/TESOL certification course online. It is by far the most expensive online TEFL/TESOL course currently out there on the market but you definitely get what you pay for. The school support is phenomenal and the course is reflective of this program’s partnership with what has been consistently voted as Canada’s best university. Teach Away is the job placement agency connected to the program, which goes the extra mile to prepare you for teaching overseas. I’ve always had my heart set on teaching English in Thailand and when I contacted Teach Away they responded with an invitation for a meeting via Skype, where I spent an hour going over my options with them including learning about the work visa process and receiving information on some of the more reputable schools/best locations to teach for/in. They made what could have been an arduous employment search an exciting new adventure and I haven’t looked back since. Thailand hasn’t been as affected by the Covid19 pandemic as a lot of other countries have and my hours were only affected for a month. Everything here is now gradually getting back to normality. Well, a new form of normality given the fear it could all blow up again. Thailand is a country which you should most certainly look into because it has everything: mountains, jungle, beaches, islands, amazing food, amazing people. I’m so so so so glad I chose this route at this stage of my life right now.

If you are looking for a safe bet introduction to teaching English abroad then you should definitely consider the 120-hour online tefl certification course offered, through the MyTEFL program.

The Professional 120-hour is described by them as being their best value course, with a notable ‘Master TEFL/Expert Teacher’ claim. ok, so this is marketing hogwash, but the course will sufficiently prepare you to begin teaching English.

I had previously spent a month out in the south of Thailand, teaching in a private school. Looking back now I can see just how unprepared I was then and this MyTEFL course has really helped me to understand much better how to plan and execute lesson plans. I’m planning on heading back out to Thailand in a couple of months’ time and this time I will be so much better prepared.

I would definitely recommend teaching English in Thailand. The people are friendly, the food is excellent, and the beaches are amazing. The pay isn’t that great, well at least it wasn’t for me, but just the experience of being in Thailand is worth it alone. Heaps of jobs around and also possible to get paid under the table if, like me, you don’t have a degree. If you have a degree though then you’ll be fine.

I haven’t really needed to use MYTEFL’s lifetime job assistance, so I don’t know what that is like.

My advice is to definitely do TEFL if you want to travel and earn money while doing so. You definitely won’t regret it!

With ICAL TEFL, I was able to afford to work at my own pace and oh boy was this convenient! I think I had something like literally forever to get everything in and I just managed it with a couple of days to spare just shy of 6 months. The nice sweet staff at ICAL TEFL did tell me that some people take years to polish off the course so I didn’t feel so bad that I took half a year to complete a 150 hours program. To be quite honest I wasn’t expecting anything else from ICAL TEFL once I’d sorted everything out and received the certificate, so I was very pleasantly surprised when I was told to contact them when I needed job guidance. I’m just so excited about teaching English overseas and I think I’ll wanna teach in Thailand when I’m ready to take the leap. Bangkok or Chang May look promising. Now I know it’s possible and it’s all thanks to ICAL TEFL. Sweet! Five stars!
