I feel so conflicted writing this review because on the one hand I loved the course and it gave me confidence to imagine myself teaching in an actual classroom. On the other hand, it’s been two months since the course finished and I still haven’t gotten the certificate. Every time I write Premier TEFL, they assure me its been sent – only for me to reach out to them again and in my most polite way ask them to please check, etc. and send it to me because I urgently need it for job interviews. Reaching out to Premier TEFL is a slow process. You are allotted a ticket in the numbered system that doesn’t give you any information about how long you can expect a response. I’m tearing my hair out because it’s been too long and I need to get moving with my job search. My hope is that Premier TEFL reads this and solves the issue for me. I thought the course was very good – no problems with that.

It covers lots of ground and I learned more than I was expecting. However, there were some issues. The quality begins to taper off around the middle of the course. It felt like the person writing the course lost the enthusiasm to continue on the same level and it shows. This was further noticeable by the needless spelling mistakes and the grammar errors I picked up on. You can call me nit-picky, but I think that a course intended for people hoping to go into EFL teaching should be without these failings. It also took a long time to receive any feedback on my coursework. When the feedback came, it was subpar at best. I don’t think my tutor read my submissions. More realistic is that they simply emailed me back a template response.

Despite these shortcomings, I passed the course and received my TEFL certificate much quicker than I had expected – expectations based on some of the previous reviews of this program on TTR. The hard-copy certificate is still on my bedroom wall as I’ve only ever used the electronic version for job interviews, etc. The certificate looks professional and authentic and has served its purpose so far.

This is a SCAM. Zero customer support. After completing the course I paid my certification fee and waited, and waited, and waited. Premier TEFL never got back to me. I never received the certificate. Now they are saying I never took the course with them, even though I have screenshots of the lessons I took and of the emails I received from them. DO NOT PURCHASE!

This is a review of the Premier TEFL 150-hour TESL course. I paid CAD 549 for the course and $89 US for the hard copy certificate. The course was a lot more expensive than some of the ones I saw being offered on Groupon. I did my research though and it seems that certificates from the cheap options are not always recognized by language schools. This is why I paid more to take the course with Premier TEFL. I would say that it was money well spent. I liked the course because it was interesting and I did learn a lot about teaching English to people without English speaking skills. I felt that the job guidance offered by this program was under par with what was promised. I asked for help finding teaching work online. I had to badger them a few times before they eventually got back to me and when they did I only received a very basic list of well-known schools. I could easily have found this information out for myself by doing a quick 10-minute search online. 5 stars for the course but I’m afraid I’m giving 1 star for the job guidance.

5 stars for the course. 1 star for their job placement. 3 stars overall.

This was a very good course to take because it was a) fairly cheap, b) easy to navigate, c) came with tutor support, and d) provided me with the international tefl certification. I didn’t need to contact the school during my course study as I had no serious questions, so can’t comment on that side of their business, but my online tutor was required a couple of times and they got back to me both times within a few days and with the help I needed. I really can’t fault the course as it worked for me and I don’t have anything to compare it against.

The issues arose though when I accepted a place in their Thailand job placement program. I found myself teaching at a school that didn’t value its teachers as much as I would have hoped for, and I soon found out that the salary I was earning was below average. Needless to say I left the school as soon as the contract had run its course.

Since then, I’ve taken a more thorough look online, and, as far as I can see, only 3 TEFL programs operate in this manner: Premier TEFL, ITTT TEFL, University of Toronto TEFL/Teach Away. I can’t comment on the last 2 programs but if they run the same job placement service as Premier TEFL then I wouldn’t sign up with them, or do sign up to take a course with them but don’t use their job placement services. You will always be much better off searching for a job either on your own or with a program that helps with job support but that doesn’t place you directly in a job. Lesson learned.

When you complete the course, Premier TEFL will leave you waiting weeks before they get around to issuing your certificate. When it arrives it looks great, but then it took me nigh on a whole 6 months to have it Ofqual verified. So if you are simply looking to take a TEFL course to begin teaching soon after, you should be aware of these extreme time delays with the delivery of your certificate. I thought the course was alright. Nothing exceptional in either a positive or negative way. It is text-based. I didn’t have an issue with this. Would have given Premier TEFL a higher-rated review, but the unnecessary delay in receiving my certificate, and the farce which followed, left an enduring bad taste in my mouth.
