I signed up for TEFL Online Pro after doing plenty of research on the company. I was unemployed at the time, living on my dwindling savings, and knew it was essential I chose a program that would get me to the next stage in life. This program has accomplished this for me. The fully accredited status and award-winning status give the certificate a mighty influence when interviewing for jobs. I completed the course on a Tuesday, interviewed for 4 online jobs during the week, and by the following Monday had 3 firm job offers. I’ve been teaching online since then. Maybe one day I’ll go overseas. For now, though, I’m very content working from home. The hourly rate I’m getting from the school I chose to work for is a lot higher than I anticipated. Again, it’s the top pedigree of this certificate. Overall a highly recommended experience.

Given that it is not the cheapest course, but we wanted to teach in South America, it is a program with a track record in placing teachers on the continent. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the course and everyone I communicated with was approachable and helpful. We eventually opted to teach in Buenos Aires and did not regret it. We had assistance with the job search and applying for the work visa. Maybe there are places to teach where it’s possible to earn more money but we love it down here. The staff and students at at the school are very nice. Every day we teach we look forward to it! Very busy city with so much going on. Tango, wine and steak is our new motto. Only advice a little more information about the logistics of opening a bank account would have been helpful. Everything else was excellent! Recommended

ESLinsider – a poor experience.

I surely can’t be the first (and very likely won’t be the last) to fall for Ian Leahy’s spiel when he trashes Online TEFL programs and somehow convinces you to take the only “really legit one”.

It turns out to be his course btw.

What began as excitement progressed to worry and then to some hair pulling.

$400 US for a shi**y TEFL course which I’ve recently learned isn’t legit at all.

Ian Leahy owns ESLinsider and he is plastered all over the internet.

Please, don’t fall for his trap.

You’ll be searching for a specific program and come across an ESLinsider post that trashes it (he seems to trash all his competitors) and then takes you down the rabbit hole to Ian’s overpriced and underwhelming TEFL course.

I read on here that he has even been banned from Facebook because of the spreading of BS.

I’ll give it two stars because it was a TEFL course and it did contain some useful information about teaching in Asia, despite some tips for female teachers being overtly misogynistic.

The issue, though, is that no school seems to accept the certificate.

Guess it’s because of his school’s website that really should have raised a red flag from the start.

I got fooled once, but not a second time.

I’ve narrowed my search down to OISE University of Toronto TEFL and TEFL Online Pro.

Does anyone have any experience with either program for teaching online work?

For a city with over 10 million inhabitants, there is a severe shortage of TEFL institutes. The institute that kept coming up in my searches was the Vantage TEFL Institute. When I contacted their office, they were helpful, and what I liked was the option of studying part of the course online, with the other part of teaching practice taking place at their Bangkok premises. This meant taking the course was a much more viable option as I could minimize the time I would need to put aside at an onsite location. The trainers and office staff at the school were helpful and friendly. It was an absolute pleasure making the trip to the center when my classes were scheduled. It was also easy to find a teaching position (within a week or so after I had finished the course) because the demand for teachers in the city was high. If you do not have the TEFL yet and want to teach in Bangkok, I advise taking this course.

TEFL Online Pro is a superb TESOL study program.

It seems to be a mid-sized program, not a giant chain, and this meant for me that communication between myself and the program was always quick responses and they knew who I was throughout the course.

I wasn’t just another student in their system.

My work colleague took a TESOL course with one of the bigger brands (Bridge TEFL) and his main complaint was that they took a long time to answer his questions and took a long time to give feedback on his coursework assignments, and when the feedback did come it didn’t always make a whole lot of sense.

My first impressions of the TEFL Online Pro course? Easy to navigate. Organized. Focussed on content.

My first impressions of the TEFL Online Pro tutoring staff and program management? Approachable. Friendly. Helpful. Professional. Quick to respond.

The support was superb.

I purchased the 120-hour course with TEFL Online Pro on January 3rd.

It took me two weeks to finish.

14 modules and two lesson plan coursework assignments in total.

Today is Feb 22. I have already begun teaching online.

TEFL Online Pro helped me find my job but didn’t charge me anything for the service.

This help included combing through my resume for me and giving their professional opinion about what I should omit or add, providing me with job interviewing tips, and connecting me with schools with which TEFL Online Pro partners.

My starting salary was $35 US per hour.
In the employment contract, it states that if I stay with them for six months this rate increases to $42 US.

I’ve since connected with other people who went through this program and we all have similar positive reports of the course and the guaranteed job at the end.

My dream job’s main box tick was always that it would enable me the possibility of working remotely.
Teaching English online ticks this box.

I’ve taken online courses in the past.
Nothing can compare to this experience.

It is by far the best.

Not only that, but the benefits of taking the course were apparent almost immediately after completing it.

What can I write other than to seriously consider this program if you are uncertain which will be the best one for you?

Is Learn TEFL legit?

Learn TEFL is not legitimate because it is not a Fully Accredited TEFL course provider.

It is accredited by IARC, which is not a reputable accreditation provider.

Think about it. Would you employ someone who spent under $100 on a 120-Hour TEFL certificate that was issued by a dodgy accreditation body?

Trusted TEFL Reviews’ advice is to invest a little bit more and obtain a Fully Accredited TEFL/TESOL certificate.

Is Learn TEFL Legit? Overpriced for what you receive.

A friend recommended I take the Learn TEFL 120 hours Online TESL course and I regretted taking her advice as soon as I started the course. OK, so it is quite cheap at $215 (US). that’s what I thought anyway until the end when they asked more for the certificate and more if I wanted help finding a job. FYI, it’s a very basic course. I just don’t understand how anyone could recommend this course when the content is so sparse on content and when it just isn’t possible to learn much without using other sources as reference tools. The study interface looks like it was hastily put together and I counted at least 10 typos contained within the module texts. This sort of sloppiness defined Learn TEFL for me. I’ve since read that some of the better Online TESL courses provide active tutor feedback. I didn’t receive this. If I had a question, I would send off a message/email and wouldn’t hold my breath for a reply. No responses came. They just take your money, let you get on with it, and then sting you at the end with their hidden fees. To be honest, I regret making this choice. Sure, you can probably use the certificate. I would have wanted to actually learn something meaningful about TEFL to be able to go into a classroom and feel I had the knowledge to conduct a class. I just don’t feel that way after taking this Learn TEFL 120-hour online course. My advice is to consider other Online TEFL course options before settling on this one.

It is imperative that you choose a Fully Accredited TEFL/TESOL online international certification course program.

INTESOL Worldwide’s 140-hour Certificate in TESOL Plus with Online Teaching Practice.

This has been one colossal, unacceptable hassle and waste.

the material and assignments are the exact same between the courses. INTESOL further didn’t tell me about all the extra equipment I would need for the teaching practice. So, I ordered everything late, in the midst of this pandemic, and experienced huge mailing delays. Everything took weeks to arrive and none of it was covered in my fees.

In the meantime, I did all the affiliated school’s extra (surprise) training and fulfilled all their other high standards despite not being warned, an employee, nor destined to be paid for my two weeks’ worth of free work for them. I even had to print up a giant poster piece by piece and line it up perfectly, wait and wait to get ultimately useless help with their buggy programs, etc.

I offered to accept the certificate without the teaching practice for a partial refund, even though I wouldn’t have attempted an upgrade at all if I knew that the teaching practice wouldn’t be included. Once again, I have gone ignored. I’ve had enough. This isn’t worth the effort and hasn’t been such for a long time.

In hindsight, one of the main issues I have with the TEFL Fullcircle online TEFL/TESOL certification course program is the pricing. If you order directly from the TEFL Fullcircle website, the price of the course is a bit hefty. If you order the TEFL Fullcircle course with a Groupon voucher (through Groupon) it takes a while before you actually begin the course because you need to go through the lengthy process of registering with Groupon as a third-party website which TEFL Fullcircle have chosen to offer their courses heavily discounted through. I think I paid $48 for my course and considering the fact that Groupon skims 50% off in commission fees, it does lead one to question the legitimacy of charging so much for this course without the Groupon voucher. I found TEFL Fullcircle by typing ‘cheap TEFL online’ into Google, but it would have been wiser, again in hindsight, if I had instead shelled out a bit more and paid for a course that provided more interaction and a much better learner experience. If you are just out for a piece of paper with the word ‘TEFL certificate’ written on it then why not do the TEFL Fullcircle course? But putting it mildly, you are likely not to finish the TEFL Fullcircle course with a sense of satisfaction that you are that much more knowledgeable in TEFL. They issue you the certificate (free of charge) up to 10 days from the date you finish the course, but badger you during that time to pay $20 for a sped-up delivery. I’d imagine most people pay the $20. I felt this was a bit underhanded by TEFL Fullcircle. To sum up: if you just want a piece of paper claiming you are a wizard in TEFL (despite not being one) then why not? If you are searching for a course that will sufficiently educate you in TEFL in an interactive way and continue to support you after you finish then this isn’t the right course for you and I’d recommend going with a different TEFL school.

The Bridge TEFL 120-hour Master Diploma certification course online was a thorough, detailed program and it became obvious to me as soon as I began the course that a whole lot of thought had been placed on the content when the people designing the course were putting it together. It’s very well-structured in that each module reflects a building on information contained within the previous unit. Even though it took a good couple of weeks to receive any kind of feedback on my work, when I did receive it my tutor was extremely helpful and thorough. The 120-hour course is labelled as being a ‘Master Diploma’ but the reality check is that this is a run of the mill 120-hour TEFL course and the term ‘Master Diploma’ is purely for marketing purposes. It’s just not possible to transform into a Master of TEFL after studying a 120-hour TEFL|TESOL course. The course does, however, go into real detail. The learning platform is a mixture of texts and video tutorials and despite the quality not always being the best (this could have been down to my internet connection at the time) the visual learning experience symbiotically fits perfectly with the nitty-gritty complexities of the text content. This definitely has to be one of the more serious 120-hour TEFL|TESOL online certification courses on offer on the web.

The only disappointment was after I received my certificate and then never heard back from Bridge TEFL again. I would have liked to have been able to access the course longer and any employment search support would have helped immensely as I hadn’t a clue really where the best places to teach were and what scams I should be looking out for during the employment process. This is an area where Bridge TEFL should improve on. But otherwise, apart from this, I give the Bridge TEFL 120-hour ‘Master’ Diploma a high grade.

Is MyTEFL Legit? The myTEFL certification course online was a reasonable choice.

I took the MyTEFL 120-hour TESOL course online, which with the 30% discount came to a little over 200 USD. This is a pretty much middle-of-the-road price for one of these online TESOL courses. I did notice some really really cheap ones being offered for as little as a few bucks, but I’m not such a fool as to fall for that one. I liken it to learning a language. Would I pay my tutor 5 USD per hour to teach me a language? No, I wouldn’t. So the My TEFL course price seemed fair, considering there were no brick-and-mortar buildings to attend. So I can see why these online TESOL courses are cheaper than the in-class ones because they have much lower overheads to take care of.

Apart from the odd typo and grammar mistakes contained within the MyTEFL 120-hour course content, I couldn’t fault the overall focus and instruction of the course. There are a variety of teaching areas covered, Curriculum Planning being the one I most enjoyed working through, but as an introductory course I did at times note to myself that it wasn’t challenging enough for someone like myself who had done some teaching before. For anyone venturing into teaching for the first time though it is a fair balance between the easy and more difficult tasks.

You are issued your certificate when you finish. To be quite honest, the certificate does look a bit like it was designed and printed by my nephew, but as far as I’m aware there is an option to purchase (at extra cost) a hardcopy printed version. I don’t know how much that costs. This is an average course in terms of the course content quality, the final certificate, and the amount of support provided for you, but compared with the dirt cheap TEFL/TESOL courses being advertised on places like Groupon, I’d take this MyTEFL course over them every time. Is MyTEFL legit? Yes, but with some reservations.

Is TEFL Online Pro Legit? The TEFL Online Pro course has been nothing but a positive experience!

When you finally decide on a course to take, you can never be certain if what was advertised will be what is delivered once you’ve made your payment and there’s no going back. I was hesitant because I didn’t want to pay only to find I’d been scammed. I read online there were TEFL scams so I guess I was overly paranoid. Reading the TEFL Online Pro reviews here and on other websites relaxed my anxieties and in the end, I just went for it. I paid with my credit card and literally in a matter of a minute, my payment went through, I was emailed a payment receipt, I got an email with my password and username to access the login course area, and about half an hour later I received a personalized Welcome To The Course email from the TEFL Online Pro office. Not many companies these days react so quickly once a payment goes through and has been received. I was impressed.

The TEFL Online Pro course is super practical and easy to follow. I chose the 120-hour TEFL/TESOL course because I hadn’t taught before and because this seemed to be the requirement of most of the job offers I’d seen advertised. The course setup is also a lot of fun because to progress to the next stage of the course, you need to complete a multiple-choice quiz after each module and I thought this was a clever way to test knowledge. Plus, two lesson plans need to be submitted and you then receive constructive feedback on how you did. My first lesson plan was rejected in its first submission, Sue told me where I went wrong and what she would recommend I do to improve it, and I resubmitted it for the second time, It was accepted and I appreciated the in-detail feedback because it would have been easier for her to just pass me but by pushing me to work properly on it I overcame my laziness and then was able to submit a second lesson plan towards the end of the course which was awarded a top grade.

When you complete the course you receive your certificate and a letter of recommendation a few days after. I was pleasantly surprised there was no extra charge for this because I’d read other schools are charging ridiculous amounts for the certificate as unscrupulous hidden fees. My certificate looks amazing! I’ve got the hard-copy version framed on my living room wall and the electronic version has been perfectly fine for applying for jobs.

You won’t find it difficult to find work with this certification. I graduated from TEFL Online Pro in August 2019 and by the beginning of September, I was having to turn down offers because so many were coming my way.

So the answer to the question, is TEFL Online Pro legit? is a most definite Yes!

The International TEFL Academy program stood out for me the finding an online TEFL course process due to its superb company presentation online. Whoever is in charge of their marketing, give them a paid holiday. In this respect, ITA stands out far beyond the crowd.

It isn’t the cheapest TEFL course, but definitely not the most expensive. For all the organizing and thought which clearly went into developing the course and maintaining it, I consider the extra expense justified.

It’s run on the Moodle learning management system. This has pros and cons. The pros are that everything is organized, and methodical. All your work is assessed by the team leader and there is transparency in the assessments. This platform is also designed so you can share tips with other students who are taking the course at the same time as you are. The cons are that because it is Moodle, there are fixed start and end dates. It also takes a bit of time to familiarize yourself with the complex nature of the system.

You will need to purchase the certificate, but I think all schools follow this business model. The certificate is the real deal. Looks amazing.

Because International TEFL Academy is such a large organization you might like I did, find it difficult to reach the right person when you have a visa or job offer query. So this is an area I thought ITA could improve on.

Overall, I’d recommend this course if you are looking for something that pretty much resembles an intensive CELTA certification course online.

Many promises were made but in the end, very few were delivered. Trying to get a hold of premier tefl felt like trying to get blood out of a rock at times. And when they did respond, the replies felt like it was an inconvenience to them. As soon as you have completed the course and paid the hidden charge for the certificate (which I was not expecting at all!) they then never respond to your emails unless you show interest in one of their paid internships/job placements abroad. It’s a shame really because I thought the course was pretty good. I hadn’t taught before and I really got into each of the modules. I won’t be recommending premier tefl to anyone.
