After taking my time to understand how the login worked and what I was meant to do it was easy to complete in a rather quick time frame and I was satisfied. I would recommend it. They were very knowledgeable and made this a very satisfying course to complete and were usually available if I had any concerns or needed help in any area. Dividing the course into clear modular sections made this very easy to learn. At least it made the learning quite easy for me and I usually have to take longer than most to get things done and get the results I’m aiming for. Compared to other online courses I’ve taken, online learning courses, this one was the most expensive but was filled with all the tools needed to get a job which made the value even better.

I bought the 120-Hour with the expectation that MyTEFL offered the course with tutor support. There wasn’t any. Hence the low review. Despite this, the experience was overall good. There weren’t any issues purchasing the course and no issues getting access to the course. IMO the content of the course was presented clearly and in an understandable way. I’m a newbie to TEFL and I appreciated the step-by-step slow approach to the course. There also weren’t any issues getting the certificate. I just cannot justify spending that much money on a course where you are completely on your own. I haven’t asked for any help yet with finding a job. Maybe that will be a more personalized service. I do need to add that I did pass the course so it isn’t impossible to complete without tutor support. Just would have been much better if I’d had some help when questions arose and when I wasn’t sure of something. Came away with the feeling that it was overpriced for what you get.

Did the job. I wasn’t looking for anything else other than a quick-fix TEFL certificate. They try and upsell you on job placement services when you finish but I didn’t think the price was worth it. Besides, so easy to get a job if you are a native speaker. No need to pay someone else to find a job for you. I didn’t experience any major issues with this company, so I would probably recommend them in the future. I’ll just need to see how effective the certificate is in job interviews going forward.

This course was comprehensive and easy to digest. You don’t get any video tutorials with the course so this might be a deal breaker for any visual learners out there. For me, I was satisfied without videos because I learn better with data. Besides, there are some excellent explainer diagrams and these were sufficient enough. What I didn’t like about the program was the add-on charges for course extensions and the certificate fee. I also didn’t think much of the MyTEFL job placement service so I opted out of that and just went ahead and searched for jobs on my own.

I don’t think any course will actively prepare you entirely for teaching because it is something that you pick up through experience. The MyTEFL course did a good job of explaining the basics and getting me started in the field with the TEFL certificate. Just would have liked more help with the job search side of things. Felt to me that the moment I said I wouldn’t pay for the job placement they lost interest in me.

I have been using the certificate and have done so with a few companies that give me online students. It took me longer than I’d anticipated starting work. Many of these companies ask that you interview two or three times. That felt unnecessary to me for an online gig which I was obviously qualified for. It isn’t as if I were interviewing to work for a corporate job. My advice is to be persistent and not accept any job offers that pay less than $20 per hour. One school wanted to pay me $12 per hour. That is just ridiculous. I guess though that some people might be tempted to take a job like this just to get a bit of experience before looking elsewhere. Also, don’t believe the blogs which tell you that you can earn $100 per hour teaching English online. It may be possible but not in my experience. Good luck!

I just want to start my review of MyTEFL by stating that I didn’t use their job placement services. So this review is limited to the course that I took, the 120-Hour TEFL certification course – which, I thought, was very good. Why did I think it was very good? It was convenient. I paid, studied the modules, took the module quizzes, received the certificate, and began teaching online. Really simple. There is a lot of online teaching work. It did take me a while to get my foot in the door but once you do (and if you are a decent enough teacher) you will soon find yourself inundated with new classes. It took me about a month and a half from sending off my first resume to being offered a job. One word of advice for the procrastinators out there is that you can’t email off your resume and then sit back and wait for the job offers to come flooding in. It’s a competitive market. Many people are looking for teaching jobs online. You have to be proactive like I was. I would keep sending my resume and I would always try and address the email to the HR manager or someone who was responsible for the company hiring. I’m pretty confident the schools receive a huge number of resumes every single day. You need to make it happen that your one is the one that is read, and addressing your email (or even cover letter) to the right person (or even to just the right school’s name) will be putting your best foot forward. So, yes, MyTEFL was a very good course. It won’t turn you into the best teacher ever, but it does the job of teaching you about all the main areas of what you need to know as a TEFL teacher. The only negative is that MyTEFL only helps you with your job search if you pay for their job placement services. I chose not to and I still found a job.

I know that MyTEFL gets a lot of bad press, but I had a really good experience with them. I chose them before I’d read any reviews and I’m not sure whether I would have chosen them if I had conducted some further due diligence. My take from the program is that you can’t expect too much when you are only paying a couple of hundred bucks. I, though, was completely satisfied with the whole MyTEFL package. Payment for the course was without issues and my time on the course went smoothly. I learned a lot and that was why I wanted to take a TEFL course in the first place. They also issued my course certificate promptly and if I needed help finding a job placement then the help was there to be had. My advice though is to look for work by yourself because it’s so easy to find work when you are TEFL-qualified and I don’t think that job placements offer the best deals at the end of the day.

I haven’t begun teaching yet but I already have 2 job interviews arranged for next week. I’m applying for teaching online jobs. I have applied to 10 online schools so far and hope to get started in a teaching job well before the end of this month.

MyTEFL was worth it and I want to give them the maximum 5 stars. Thanks.

MyTEFL lied to me. I specifically asked MyTEFL if I could teach in Thailand with only an associate’s degree. Their reply was “Yes, you can. No problem”. I want to make it clear that there wasn’t any misunderstanding on the part of MyTEFL. I clearly told them that I don’t have a college degree, but instead, I have an associate’s degree. “Never mind” they replied. Thailand treats both with the same importance. Based on this expert knowledge, I bought a ticket to Bangkok – armed with my MyTEFL 120-hour TEFL certificate and my associate’s degree papers – and I began applying for jobs. MyTEFL had told me that the preferred method for finding work in Thailand is to go to Thailand and apply in-country because it’s much more difficult to apply for jobs when you are not in the country. I really did draw the short straw because not one of the schools I applied to would accept my associate’s degree. In Thailand, to teach legally, you must have a full college degree. Associate degrees are worthless for the work visa, which you are required to obtain if you want to teach in Thailand. Thanks, MyTEFL for wasting a whole load of my time and money I’m now desperately searching for countries where I can teach with my TEFL TEFL certificate and associates degree and because a lot of countries are shut down due to the pandemic, I am effectively stuck in Thailand until the travel corridors open up again. I would never recommend MyTEFL. They are just interested in your money and don’t give two hoots about what happens to you after that.

This review is about the myTEFL Job Placement Service. It’s not about the course. I thought the course was OK. The course is divided into easy-to-digest modules, with tests at the end of each that question the knowledge taught. I thought this system worked really well-especially in my case because I have never been a fan of taking one big, important test at the end of a course. Continuous assessment is fairer for students. For the course, I give four stars. For the customer service, I give two stars.

After finishing the course I was expecting a professional-looking certificate. The certificate looks like a certificate template you can easily download from the internet. Still, it is a TEFL certificate and I guess it will be good enough for jobs. But then came the hard sell. I was literally bombarded with emails and phone calls to pay for the job-finding service. After I did some research, I realized that MyTEFL must make a lot of money from this service they provide because the salaries they offer are a lot lower than the salaries quoted in language school job adverts. MyTEFL wanted me to sign a legally-binding contract before I had even decided if to use their job-finding services. I thought this was very unprofessional and just not good enough. Fair to assume that I politely turned down their offer and now I am looking for work on my own, without their “help”.

For those of you who just want to get the TEFL certification to start your teaching career, this one will probably do it for you. MyTEFL makes the bold claim that their certificates are recognized around the world, a claim made by all the other TEFL schools too, and I don’t necessarily see why that wouldn’t be a true statement. I think what they are stating is that the TEFL brand is internationally recognized, not necessarily any one particular school. What I’m trying to say is that in a world population of a few billion, there is no way on earth that everyone will recognize a MyTEFL certificate. It will, however, likely suffice in most job interviews.

I thought the course was a bit flat though. You read and scroll through a bunch of text and then answer a quiz that is mostly possible to pass without having read any of the text. I’ve read how some people were able to complete the whole course in just a couple of days, and I can understand how that is possible. Just by skimming through the texts and answering the quiz questions should have finished in under 3 days. MyTEFL doesn’t provide any job assistance to speak of unless you are after a preassigned job placement position, so prepare yourself to do the legwork yourself after the course when it comes to searching for jobs. That being said, it didn’t take me so long to find a teaching position so there are plenty of teaching jobs out there if you are willing to put the time in and look for them.

Take anything you read online about this company with a healthy cup of skepticism. It seems like any person who has ever wanted to teach abroad and travel has taken their course with MyTEFL but you need to understand that these people are part of their affiliate program and are being PAID to promote MyTEFL. If you read any MyTEFL review with a coupon code added (something like SAVE 35% when you enter COUPON CODE) you can be sure the person just wants to earn their commission, paid by MyTEFL. I took their 120-Hour Online course and thought it was pretty meh. Not much in the way of employment help in the end either. At best an average experience. Definitely is not a 5-star review from me.
