The sole purpose for my taking a TEFL certification was to find work online, teaching English to overseas students. I chose TEFL Org because they were offering a generous discount which knocked a huge amount off the full cost of the course.

I would later learn that this “special offer” runs continuously.

One star deducted.

It was too easy. I mean, ridiculously easy. Some of the questions and the depth of the content (or lack of it) felt an affront to my intelligence. Seriously. Come on TEFL Org! We aren’t all doomscrollers!

Two stars deducted.

No issues with payment, neither with the issue of the certificate. Extra fee for the certificate. Oh well, what can you do about it?

The course did the job, but I don’t feel that much more confident about teaching as I did before taking the course.

Was going to give two stars, but thought that wasn’t fair. 2.5? Fairer.

Wanting to complete a 120 hour online TEFL course so I can teach online and possibly overseas, I signed up with TEFL Org. Saw their advert online and the student testimonials.

Chose the 120 because it seems this is the one the schools want you to have. Anything more is bloated study hours.

I can write that it was an OK course. There were a few bugs, and this was annoying, but the overall experience was positive. I learned about all of the different learner levels, how to teach groups and individuals, and a lot of grammar. Grammar, grammar, grammar.

The issue I have is that after getting the TEFL certificate I haven’t had any follow-up support from The TEFL Org.

I’ve reached out to TEFL Org – they know my email address because it’s the one I took the course with – but haven’t received any help at all with my job search. I’ve found it isn’t so difficult looking up language schools online, but feel that a significant amount of my time would have been saved if I had received the support that was promised to me when I purchased the course.

It was a good course and I rate it three stars. Just a big shame about the situation with the support.

TEFL Org online TEFL course review.

For the most part, the course was well-structured and well-designed. Experienced occasional login issues but these were quickly rectified when the issue was raised. I did happen to notice some grammar errors in the written texts which did leave me to internally question the legitimacy of this program. Despite these concerns, I trundled on through the course and came out the other end with a certificate and a list of schools that were currently hiring. A couple of schools’ websites weren’t working though so perhaps time for TEFL Org to review their job lists. No problems whatsoever finding work with the online TEFL certification. Was never asked if it was an online or in-class certification. If I had to take the course again, I probably would.

I had a very disappointing experience with TEFL Org and cannot recommend this company based on how they treated me.

I paid for the course, logged in, and immediately realized it wasn’t what I was expecting. The layout and content were extremely underwhelming. I hadn’t even started the actual course material, so I requested a refund, which is something I was legally entitled to under their own terms and consumer protection laws.

But once I requested the refund, all communication stopped. Emails went unanswered. No explanation, no discussion, Just silence. After several follow-up attempts and zero response, I had no choice but to contact my bank, which thankfully processed a charge-back and helped recover the money.

What left an especially bad impression was the tone of the initial interaction I had with one of their team members, who came across as condescending and arrogant. As a British company, TEFL Org may rely on its image of being reputable, but based on how I was treated, it felt more like a scam operation hiding behind a polished brand.

There are plenty of TEFL providers out there. Choose one that respects its customers and stands behind its product. In my case, TEFL Org failed on both counts.

I recently went through the TeflOrg Level 5 online Tesl course program. I chose the program because I thought their website looked very professional and I also chose them because of the many positive reviews they have on reviews.io. The reviews.io counter is on their homepage. I’ve since found out that reviews.io is one of those websites where anyone can write a review. There is no verification process. It’s some kind of reviews scam website as far as I’m concerned. When it came to the TeflOrg course, I thought it was reasonable. They don’t go into so much depth, but this is a quick online course so I was kind of expecting this. This online setting though is a Tefl mill as you learn everything by yourself but are required to pay top dollar so that you can have some online tutor in some random country “grade your progress.” I was not happy with my tutors – they would answer my questions as simply as possible without any engagement. I am not sure they even read half my work because I would get 100 percent on papers that I know were less than stellar. I wish I had spent the money that I saved so hard for something else. One other point- I didn’t receive any of the job support help advertised. I completed all tasks, and received my certification, and that was the last I heard from TeflOrg. There are many Tesl programs and unless you want to struggle to find work, I would recommend choosing a different program.

Terrible customer service. If you plan on studying at the weekend when I imagine most students who hold down full-time jobs do then think again. I had many difficulties accessing the online course over the weekend and this was just so frustrating. After contacting TEFL Org, you might, if you are lucky, receive a human reply within a week. If not, then it will probably be an automated response. The course was not as described on their website. It was dull and outdated, and the video content quality was atrocious. There is nothing ‘advanced’ about the TEFL Org 40-hour Teaching English Online advanced TEFL course. A total waste of time.

The TEFL Org course content was good and easy to follow, despite there being a lot of written text. Some very useful games and activities were included that I really enjoyed working on. There was an interesting module on classroom management that I’m sure every new teacher needs in their arsenal. The grammar was complex, but explained in a way I could understand it. It’s in British English so be prepared for weird sounding words and phrases. The course covered everything I imagine a TEFL course should and I passed the course and received the course certificate. The course certificate was an additional expense, but I knew this when I paid for the course, and the certificate does look legit.

I would suggest improvements in The TEFL Org tutor support service and more course content for specific teaching contexts. I rarely heard back from my course tutor, when I did it felt like I was communicating with an AI bot. The course was primarily aimed at teachers teaching adults in a classroom setting. I’m hoping to teaching English online and this was covered, but only minimally. I also would have appreciated more coaching on teaching English to business students as I’ve read that it is professionals who are the growing demographic in online teaching requirement needs in 2025.

The TEFL Org course would be recommended for people aiming to teach adults in a classroom in-person setting.

120-Hour Premier Online.

As a newcomer to TEFL, I decided to play it safe and chose a middle-of-the-road 120-hour course. I chose the first one that popped up on my screen: TEFL Org. The website looked believable enough and I saw they have many positive reviews on reviews.io- something they must be extremely proud of because they have this pasted as a banner on their homepage. I have since learned though that reviews.io isn’t a completely believable source for reviews (an understatement) so this might explain some of the outstanding reviews of this program on there, and explain the number of positive reviews they receive on any given day in the week. I do though consider the TEFL Org program to have been pretty decent. It didn’t blow me away or anything like that but it helped me in the process of obtaining my TEFL certificate and as online courses go this one was good. My favorite part of the 120 Hour Premier Online course was the explanations of the different teaching styles- a real eye-opener for someone like me who only knew the traditional style of a teacher screaming at children when I attended school many moons ago The certificate wasn’t free but it wasn’t drastically expensive either. It looks great on my wall and I hope to be able to take full advantage of it on the job market soon TEFL Org just sent you a list of TEFL job websites and this covers their backs with their promises of “extensive post-course international job guidance”. I could have found this information out for myself but it was a help. Objectively I am giving TEFL Org a 50% rating of 2.5 stars. Perhaps I’ll reconsider this rating when I start teaching and see just how relevant the course materials were in prepping me for the TEFL classroom. I’m neither blown away nor deflated by my experience. The course doesn’t warrant 10x 5-star reviews per week though on that reviews.io website which TEFL Org is so proud of using for their marketing process to sell more courses. I hope that this review has been helpful for potential TEFLers who might be considering the TEFLOrgUK course for their TEFL certification. Jacqueline.

I would not trade the experience I had with TEFL Org for anything. It’s a great course for anybody who is looking to get started in TEFL or for anyone interested in advancing their TEFL knowledge and experience. I read a few complaints about people not receiving their certificates on time, but I didn’t have this issue. The course worked like clockwork and I had the impression the staff genuinely care if you pass or fail. I passed with distinction and can’t fathom how anyone could fail this course. Have used the certificate for jobs and never had any push back. Everything is done online. You don’t need to go anywhere to take the course. This was a huge selling point for me as I currently work full-time and the course afforded me the option to focus on it on the weekends. I wouldn’t have been able to manage the same TEFL syllabus if I had to be somewhere physically in-person to take the classes. It was a painless process and a positive one. I think TEFL Org should be ranked higher in the TEFL Directory because of these factors. Perhaps this review will help seal that. Overall, it is a course that I recommend to others because, from my own experience, I was satisfied with the tuition and post-course support. I also had the impression that they want you to succeed. After all, it makes more sense for them to encourage their TEFL learners to do well in the course.

I was convinced to take this Level 5 course because I thought the course standards would be very high. Whilst the content (I thought) was excellent in what was covered, I did notice a few spelling errors popping up here and there across the course. I did mention this to TEFL Org, but nobody got back to me about it. Taking the spelling errors aside, this is a comprehensive course that consists of a user-friendly study interface. I also appreciated the responsiveness of the website – I could study on multiple devices and the study experience wasn’t compromised. This meant that when I was out, I could study on my phone. TEFL Org only provides the course, so you won’t receive any help in finding a job afterward. I didn’t need this help anyway because I already had a job confirmed before I took this course. I took the course specifically because I was told that I had to have a TEFL certificate to teach in China. I’ve read in some places online that you don’t always need to have a TEFL certificate to find teaching work, but I would say that this is the exception rather than the general rule. All of the job ads I’ve seen since have stipulated that applicants must have a TEFL certificate. I would describe the TEFL Org Level 5 course as being a 5-star course, but they dropped two stars for the spelling errors and lack of student support.

I’m going to begin with the good points and then continue with areas where I thought there could be room for improvement.

The good

I liked the course a lot. It was very practical in making sense of the more difficult-to-understand grammar sections and highlighted the teaching applications of different grammar areas. As an example, I liked the clear descriptions of the timeline tenses and how as a teacher it is best to describe these to students.

I also thought the feedback from my tutor was very good. It was helpful and constructive, and I was able to learn from my mistakes. I recommend taking a TEFL course with tutor support exactly for this reason. Without it, you might find yourself not knowing whether how you are forming your lessons is correct or not.

The bad

It took much longer to receive the course certificate than I had anticipated, and it left me in a bit of limbo as I began applying for jobs right after finishing the course but I couldn’t show any schools an actual certificate up until about a month into my search.

Once the course is over, TEFL Org won’t respond to any further emails. Or if they do, you might be lucky to get a reply within a week. This was my experience and I felt that a bit of after-course support would have helped.

Overall, I thought the course was excellent, but the post-course customer service let the school down somewhat.

Is TEFL Org legit? They pack a lot into the 120 hours.

The course was excellent. It took me a week to complete everything and within that time I learned so much about grammar, teaching, and teaching English jobs overseas. They pack a lot into the 120 hours. That’s for certain. The Premier 120-Hour course TEFL Org offer is an all-around great option for TEFL studies.

The course is straightforward enough. It’s not too difficult, so you don’t get the feeling of being out of your depth. The only parts in which I did have some problems were the grammar sections. As a native English speaker, I have been speaking English my entire life. The problem for me though was that I entered the course not even knowing what the difference between a noun and a verb was. It seems pretty pathetic now to think that I knew so little about my language, but it was a fact. Most of the grammar was easy to pick up and just involved memorizing rules and terms. I came up against a brick wall a few times with the different time tenses. The past and present tenses are easy to get your head around, it’s just the present tenses (I have+past participle) where at first I stumbled in my lesson plan. I thought that we use past simple and present perfect interchangeably, but when you look at both tenses on a timeline you see how different they are and it must be just so complicated for students learning these. Anyway, I got it (eventually) and now I know how to present these differences to students. All thanks to TEFL Org!

I completed the tefl.org level 5 online course from the UK Center on March 4, 2020. My certificate was shipped to me on March 6. I Downloaded a copy from the site on March 8, 2020.
I found the 6 modules course reasonably complete. The grammar course module was very good for me. Some of the teaching theory in the methodology module was a bit one size fits all but good. I did have a problem with several of the early demonstration videos’ audio. I would suggest they get a professional video sound person and reshoot those couples. Teaching large classes and telephone modules is a bit tedious and short. I understand there is an “advanced” course for more $ for them. My Tutor was excellent and very prompt with the turnaround and replies. There are several program glitches that as an ex-coder I would rewrite. And the startup instructions are ambiguous putting the modules in a different order than is suggested in the narrative. I did sign up for the “American” version however I got the British. I doubt there is much more than the obvious differences, Of Course, the Brits are much more polite than the Americans. Except for the tech people I had conversations with they are infected with the American tech gurus “I’m the expert,” attitude, ” just shut up and do it my way”. Even the manager I asked to speak to about the sloppy audio on one of the videos gave me a canned reply about how many thousands of people they had trained and that made them infallible. (Probably learned PR from the royals.) All that being said I give it four stars and would recommend this course.

It was really difficult taking the step to start education again after 17 years out but it turned out to be a very good decision. The course materials and resources are really good, as well as the support from tutors. Staff is friendly and clearly highly trained in fields and therefore can be of great help when it comes to assignments. I would recommend TEFL ORG online college greatly to others.
