I booked their course because it was so cheap. After I’d logged in I saw how bad it was and immediately requested a refund. No reply and no refund.
It’s a no frills course and you pay for what you get.

I completely agree with you.

I tried to raise this concern on World TESOL Academy’s Facebook page and they immediately blocked me. They also have the Reviews tab on their Facebook page disabled.

World TESOL Academy is a complete scam and there seems to be no shortage of people signing up for it.

Trusted TEFL Reviews has (again) tried to warn people about taking a World TESOL Academy certification course:

They began with writing some nonsense about there being fake negative reviews online, written about World TESOL Academy.

They then followed with a list of reasons that they feel make them appear more reputable than other TEFL online programs.

Here are their pointers, with truthful responses- i.e., what World TESOL Academy doesn’t want you to know:

1. We a registered learning provider (UKPRN: 10087431).

– A UK PRN number is given to any UK limited company that provides some type of education course(s). It takes about 5 minutes to sign up and to receive a UKPRN number.
World TESOL Academy has registered a company in the UK, but their core business is registered in India.
This is likely why, when they signed up, they left their contact details blank.
You can check UKPRN numbers and the ease with which it is to sign up here:
https://www.ukrlp.co.uk/

2. Our courses have dual accreditation – we’re accredited by both ACCREDITAT and CPD. ACCREDITAT is a leading international accreditation body with around 20 years of experience and a decade spent specializing in ESL accreditation. CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is an accreditation body established 25 years ago, and focuses on setting the highest possible standards for professional training certifications from thousands of the world’s largest organizations and educational institutions.

– Both Accreditat and CPD are websites which, for a fee, will accredit any program.
This fee is paid annually.

3. The course is guaranteed to be accepted by all the major online teaching companies.

– This just isn’t true.
The course costs less than $50 US and you can easily complete it in a day.
Reputable language companies know this fact full-well and they routinely turn down World TESOL Academy graduates because they lack TEFL training knowledge.
You can take and pass the course in one day, but that won’t instantly make you an employable TEFL teacher.

4. It’s also guaranteed to pass through authentication by the British Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO), and guaranteed to be accepted for overseas teaching visa applications for countries like China and Vietnam (two of the strictest in the world).

– Again, this just isn’t true.
I have read online reports, written by World TESOL Academy graduates, that they were unable to get their World TESOL Academy certificate legalized and apostilled.

5. You can see real reviews from our graduates here: (link to page on World TESOL Academy’s website and a link to the Go Overseas website).

– Don’t believe any reviews on the World TESOL Academy website or on gooverseas.com.
Why?
When you take and complete a World TESOL Academy course, World TESOL Academy aggressively tries to get you to become an affiliate marketer online for them.
This means that you get a commission for every person whom you encourage to pay and take a World TESOL Academy course.
If I were an affiliate marketer for World TESOL Academy, I would absolutely write a positive review of their company in the hope that the review would convince someone to take the course; earning me with a course sign-up commission.

All of the negative reviews of this program on trustedteflreviews.com are legit.

You can see just how important affiliate (referral) marketing is to World TESOL Academy, on its program website:

Jonathan.

I couldn’t agree more.
I found out the other day the reason for all the 5-Star Facebook comments and reviews on World TESOL Academy’s Facebook page.
When you enroll in the course, you get constantly hustled by World TESOL Academy into leaving a Facebook comment or review.
I think they promise something in return if you do.
What they don’t seem to realize is that most people are not total idiots.
Well, except perhaps for some of the people who thought that paying $38 for a TEFL course and then leaving a 5-Star review was a good idea.

I just don’t understand why some peeps purchase a TEFL course that costs peanuts and then complain that they either haven’t learned anything or that they were unable to get a job with the certificate.
I mean, are all these people born yesterday?
I met a couple recently, who each took a $20 course with Learn TEFL.
They are lovely people, but had no clue about teaching TEFL.
It is no wonder then that they continue to find it difficult to get a well-paid teaching job.
When you take one of these really cheap courses, you are setting yourself up for failure.
You might pass the course with flying colours, and you might get an ego boost from it, but when you are sat in front of an experienced interviewer, you are going to be wishing that you should have invested a little bit more and had gone through a program that actually taught you the fundamental basics of teaching ESL.
Call me traditional, but I really think that peeps should invest a bit more in a TEFL certification course that is going to have a positive impact on their employment prospects.
And don’t get me started on the “free” TEFL courses.
If you choose to take one of them, you are just asking for trouble.
There is no need to shell out $$$$ on a TEFL course.
Just up your budget to a few hundred $$$ and your future self will thank you for it.

Your comment reads more like a review.
Please email Trusted TEFL Reviews a copy of your TEFL Online Pro course certificate, so that we can verify that you are a graduate of the program.

I previously wrote that I chose not to do the World TESOL Academy TEFL because people were saying that it took them just a couple of hours to complete the course.
I then read the reviews and more red flags kept popping up.
The idea of constantly being pressured to get others to enroll in the course was one red flag. All the extras they charge you along the way was another.
Besides, I wanted to learn something from a course, and the World TESOL Academy TEFL just seemed too basic.
I knew I’d need to know my subject when I interviewed for jobs and began teaching, and the $34 for a 120 hours course was just too good to be true.
I also wanted my TEFL certificate to be internationally recognized.
I spent another week researching other schools and in the end, I bit the bullet and just went with the highest-rated one: TEFL Online Pro.
I enrolled in their 120 hours course: https://teflonlinepro.com/120-hour-professional/
I can report back that all has been great. Really great.
Even though it cost more than if I’d taken the one run by World TESOL Academy, it was worth it.
There were no hidden fees and I wasn’t asked to get others to sign up for the program.
The course is excellent.
I learned a lot in the 120 hours of study.
Oh, and the course took me two weeks to complete. Not two hours.
Plus, I had a really helpful online tutor whom I could ask questions (she was super responsive) and they also helped me find a job, teaching English online.
I’m teaching English to Japanese and South Korean kids and adults.
It’s been a couple of weeks since I got the job and so far I love it.
I work 25 hours a week, and I take home (after tax deductions) US$38 an hour.
So, it all worked out great in the end.
It would never have worked out this way had I taken the TEFL with World TESOL Academy.
I highly recommend the TEFL Online Pro program if you want to take the TEFL/TESOL certification online whilst having an excellent support base to guide you through the entire process.
Yes, it cost more to take the TEFL with this company. But it’s not that much more and you earn the money back anyway after a day or two of teaching.

Tony.

This is very interesting. It is particularly interesting that ACCREDITAT categorically states: ‘Yes, World TESOL Academy is accredited by ACCREDITAT and their certification will demonstrate this. They offer a high-quality course’.

I’m just wondering in which universe their course can be described, without smiling a Cheshire cat’s grin, as being “high-quality”.

This is raising some serious concerns about both World TESOL Academy and ACCREDITAT.

Perhaps one, or both, could come on here to address these ACCREDITAT / World TESOL Academy customer concerns?

We know that both World TESOL Academy and ACCREDITAT have visited this page, so perhaps the next time they do, they could explain themselves.

It’s not even worth $34. When I signed up for the course the first part of it is them trying to get you to sell their courses by giving you an affiliate link and nothing about teaching English. Then you get bombarded with emails saying refer a friend. They are just a grab your money and run kind of company.

One of their claims is that the low $34 cost of their 120 hour course is a limited time only offer. I did a bit of searching and found that they have always offered the course for $34, ever since they began offering their course at the beginning of 2020.

They also claim: “the course covers all of the essentials for teaching overseas and online. It’s accepted by all the major online teaching companies, and can be used to teach overseas including with the visa applications for countries like China and Vietnam (two of the strictest in the world).”

It might be accepted by some schools, but you won’t learn much at all with this course and I doubt you will successfully pass many job interviews when you are asked some basic teaching English knowledge questions.
