ITA is a Solid Choice For TEFL.

I’m a bit older than your average English tutor. 61 years young this year to be exact. I thought it might be a good idea to travel and teach and to push myself. ITA was one of the programs which I found and I liked what they were offering. There is a steep learning curve to become familiarized with the program’s study LMS. This took a few days. I did become used to it quite quickly though. One of the standouts is the shared community space where you chat with other participating students in the program. I have quite the list of teaching experience and I didn’t find the course to be out of my reach. Given what I know now about teaching (again, long list) I can safely say that this is a grounded and comprehensive TEFL online course.

I’ve been applying for jobs in the Middle East. Last week I had a reply from a school based in Dubai. My TEFL certificate is recognized there and I’ve always wanted to visit Dubai anyway. Working and living there is a double bonus. I’m currently working with the International TEFL Academy staff to smooth the transition over.

It’s incredible to me the sheer amount of possibilities open to people of all ages to be able to earn a living by doing something that is enjoyable and life changing.

I was pleased with my ITA online course study. It isn’t a self-paced study program like the other ones I saw promoted online. Instead, you have a certain time to start and complete the course. I liked this because it meant I couldn’t drag my feet and I was time-forced to complete everything on time, which is a good thing for someone like me who likes to procrastinate a lot.

I thought the lessons contained in the course were excellent at showing me, as a future teacher, how to present topics to students in a fun but informative way. There were also assignments where I needed to submit lesson plans and these were graded and suggestions for edits were provided. I always got quick replies back. This was important for me because I needed guidance, and the guidance was provided.

Is International TEFL Academy legit?

Is International TEFL Academy legit? This isn’t a course that automatically passes you.

If you just want to take a TESOL course that passes you after you have completed a certain number of online tasks, don’t take this course. This isn’t one of those courses.

If you need a TESOL course that makes you work for your certification, take this course.

I was very impressed with the support and materials I received. Although it was a chunk of change to sign up, I think it’s definitely worth it in the long term. Why? Well, this ain’t no TEFL mill program. They won’t automatically pass you when you’ve completed the course.

I must admit that I sort of began the course with the hope that I could pass it just by following the program guidelines, but when my first assignment was rejected, it made me start to really think about how I was formulating my lesson plans and this drove me, motivated me, to produce the best work which I could in subsequent assignments.

By the end of the course, I felt my head would explode with all the new knowledge taken in

But I became a better teacher because of this. And this is the message of my review.

Sure, take one of those cheap Groupon TEFL courses if you want to do things by half measure.

But if you actually want to pick up valuable, long-lasting skills, I recommend this International TEFL Academy program.

The international TEFL course with ITA Online TESOL was a very demanding, yet at the same time, highly motivating course. This is one of the 170-hour courses with a 20-hour teaching practicum. The course is provided through the Moodle app, which does take a while to get used to but when you do get used to it, it all makes immediate sense. While a lot of other online TESOL courses start any time in the year, this course has specific start dates. They run a course each month and they show all upcoming course dates on their website. How the 20 teaching practicum hours work is you find your students yourself and then ITA grades your lesson plans and student feedback. I was able to find students online, via chat sites in China. I didn’t charge my students for the English lessons, so that’s why it was probably so easy for me to manage my 20 teaching hours so quickly after finishing the 150 of the online study. I needed the difficulty of a course like this to get me motivated to start focusing on my future. For so long I was in a job I wasn’t happy working in and when a friend told me about TESOL teaching I jumped at the chance. When I can leave the country again, I’ll be traveling overseas to teach. Thank you ITA Online TESOL for this opportunity to travel and teach! You peeps are awesome!

An honest assessment of the International TEFL Academy online TESOL certification course.

(not to be confused with The TEFL Academy, which is a completely different company)

The International TEFL Academy program stood out for me the finding an online TEFL course process due to its superb company presentation online. Whoever is in charge of their marketing, give them a paid holiday. In this respect, ITA stands out far beyond the crowd.

It isn’t the cheapest TEFL course, but definitely not the most expensive. For all the organizing and thought which clearly went into developing the course and maintaining it, I consider the extra expense justified.

It’s run on the Moodle learning management system. This has pros and cons. The pros are that everything is organized, and methodical. All your work is assessed by the team leader and there is transparency in the assessments. This platform is also designed so you can share tips with other students who are taking the course at the same time as you are. The cons are that because it is Moodle, there are fixed start and end dates. It also takes a bit of time to familiarize yourself with the complex nature of the system.

You will need to purchase the certificate, but I think all schools follow this business model. The certificate is the real deal. Looks amazing.

Because International TEFL Academy is such a large organization you might like I did, find it difficult to reach the right person when you have a visa or job offer query. So this is an area I thought ITA could improve on.

Overall, I’d recommend this course if you are looking for something that pretty much resembles an intensive CELTA certification course online.
