Job assistance support and help with any work visa questions were also included in the price of the course, as was the extremely helpful advice I received about writing a resume specific to teaching English job applications. I don’t have anything negative to write about TEFL Online Pro. I’m another satisfied customer of this highly recommended TEFL / TESOL program.

I recently took the TEFL through The TEFL Academy online program. It was a reasonably good course, with many good tips for using activities with students. I don’t think the course taught me all there is to know about TEFL, but I suppose no course can do this really in such a short time. The TEFL Academy sent me a school list for online teaching so I’m going to begin researching and try to find a teaching job online. I do wish there was more support after the course, but I guess you can’t expect so much from a TEFL course in this price range. I will be recommending The TEFL Academy if anyone asks. It didn’t blow me away, but it got the job done to a greater extent and that’s all that counts at the end of the day. I just hope I can find a job quickly because ideally, I want to start teaching at the start of January 2024. I just hope the certificate is recognized for the jobs that I plan to apply for because I have read that the program’s certificates are generally only recognized in certain countries and for certain online companies that are based in those countries. I guess it’s going to be a wait-and-see situation going forward. There do seem to be a lot of jobs available though – I had a quick look through a few TEFL job sites and was impressed with how popular teaching English online still is. Wish me luck!

In addition to being a fully accredited TEFL/TESOL certification program and the excellent customer reviews that this program has, I chose TEFL Online Pro because I wanted the dual benefit of being certified to teach online and overseas – anywhere in the world where they teach English. The certificate is good for both.

I chose the 120-Hour Professional course because it seemed like it would be the best fit for me, and it has been.

It took just two weeks to complete everything in the course – including the two lesson planning coursework assignments – and I received my certificate with a letter of recommendation shortly after (only 12 hours after because I chose the digital copy version of the certificate.)

It only took a few weeks between course completion and finding a job teaching English online.

I’ll teach online until the beginning of summer, and then I plan to head overseas to teach.

I’m very satisfied with this choice of TEFL/TESOL course provider, and I recommend teaching English online as a flexible way of earning money.

The only negative thing I can think of is that when you begin planning your online lessons, you do need to account for differences in time zones. I predominantly teach students based in Tokyo, so my teaching “day” occurs mainly in the evenings. This will differ depending on where you live in the world.

I got tremendous real-time feedback from my course tutor throughout, making some of the more challenging areas of the course much easier to understand and complete. All in all, it took me 2.5 weeks to complete this 120-hour TESOL course online and I was truly proud of my achievement of passing with a grade A with distinction. I know that MyTEFL gets a lot of bad press, but I had a really good experience with them. I chose them before I’d read any reviews and I’m not sure whether I would have chosen them if I had conducted some further due diligence. My take from the program is that you can’t expect too much when you are only paying a couple of hundred bucks. I, though, was completely satisfied with the whole MyTEFL package. Payment for the course was without issues and my time on the course went smoothly. I learned a lot and that was why I wanted to take a TEFL course in the first place. They also issued my course certificate promptly and if I needed help finding a job placement then the help was there to be had. My advice though is to look for work by yourself because it’s so easy to find work when you are TEFL-qualified and I don’t think that job placements offer the best deals at the end of the day.

I haven’t begun teaching yet but I already have 2 job interviews arranged for next week. I’m applying for teaching online jobs. I have applied to 10 online schools so far and hope to get started in a teaching job well before the end of this month.

MyTEFL was worth it and I want to give them the maximum 5 stars. Thanks.

I have not used their job-finding services yet – this is a review of the MyTEFL online TESOL course only.

I was really impressed at how the course was structured and how user-friendly it was.

Their study program consists of TESOL materials presented in attractively laid out modules; followed by multiple choice questions, which you need to pass 70% of to continue to the next module.

It’s very well presented. Funky even. And for a course costing this much, I was expecting this setup after reading through their website presentation.

I managed to pass the course with a high score grade – a combination of my hard work and (again) the way the course was set up.

For a course like this one, I don’t see why a tutor support element is needed. If you focus on and study through the materials effectively, I really can’t see how anyone can fail the course.

Adam, the MyTEFL go-to person, was really helpful when I was asking questions before committing to the course. I think he must be one of the main people behind MyTEFL because I see that he has written articles for MyTEFL on many TESL article sites dotted around the net. He was actually great, and I appreciated his in-the-know advice. I liked how he didn’t try to aggressively sell me on the job placement feature which MyTEFL runs parallel to the course.

I just wanted to get the certification under my belt and wait until the epidemic blows over, so (again) I can’t comment on their job-finding services.

Regarding the course though, I was absolutely satisfied.

I learned more than I had expected I would with one of these online courses which I was taking for the first time.

When push comes to shove and I’m ready to use the MyTEFL job-finding services, I’ll write an update on this review so others can tell whether it’s worth using this service or not.

120-hour Professional. The payment was straightforward and without issues and course access was immediate. The online tutor was helpful and present throughout the course, I had an issue with not passing a module quiz and he reset it for me without any drama. The lesson plan assignments were well placed within the course and constructive feedback followed quickly after submission. The Professional course with Tefl Online Pro is a great course to study. It managed to introduce so much useful information within the 120-hour window. Completed the course in 3 weeks, studying a few hours a night during the week and full weekends. One negative is communication with the office could be a bit slower over the weekend, especially on Sundays. The certificate was delivered within 10 days and so was my letter of recommendation. There weren’t any attempts to upsell any further products. Finding a job was pretty easy with this certification. Would take it again. Will recommend it to others.

I’m writing this review of the Tefl Online Pro program from a cafe in Chiang Mai – a city btw that I have come to love over these past 8 months. I recommend anyone coming to Thailand, ok see the beaches and do the island thing, but here up north everything is much more chilled and Chiang Mai is a very special place. It’s considered a city, but it’s really a large town, with amazing coffee, lots of opportunities for doing yoga, and incredible food, and it’s a lot cheaper to live in compared with other cities I’ve visited.

I know it sounds cliche, but I took my online TEFL on the beach when I spent a month on Koh Chang island. Luckily my room had great internet access, so working on the course didn’t present any internet connection issues for me.

I chose the 120-Hr Professional course mainly because I did have some teaching experience, but not enough to qualify for their Fast-Track online course.

The course is based on a very user-friendly learning system and as others have written, I really enjoyed the quizzes at the end of each module. It’s definitely important to be tested on the content you learn and this was an entertaining way of doing that.

You cover all the essential teaching topics and out of them all I’d have to write that the module on Phonology for me was the most interesting, and I have been using it loads in my classes since.

I know Tefl Online Pro is famous for its job support and I did suggest having one consultation, with btw a very informative and very helpful woman (sorry, I can’t remember your name now). We spoke for about an hour and she recommended I teach English up here in Chiang Mai. At first, I was a bit nervous about packing up and heading to a place I’d never been to before, but I am so glad I took her advice. I know I keep repeating myself, but Chiang Mai is such a cool town to live and work in.

I arrived on a Monday, began interviewing on Wednesday, and by the following Monday I had 3 solid job offers, so I took the best offer (obviously) and began teaching the following week.

I earn about 40,000 Baht per month, which I hear from other teachers here is well above the average rate. I don’t know if my certificate got me a high salary but I’m definitely aware that the certificate was essential in helping me find a job here. The language school (the one I work for now) contacted Tefl Online Pro for a reference and they must have made me out to be God’s gift to teaching because, after that phone call, they just said I got the job. On the spot. Just like that.

I really enjoyed learning TEFL online and I’m really happy with my choice of online TEFL school and the really useful advice they gave me. And Chiang Mai rocks!

This is a really great (TEFL) program with amazing staff.

I paid for and got exactly what was advertised, and with the wonderful support of my tutor, I passed the course with flying colors.

The reason for my choosing to take the 120-hour course with tefl online pro was based on the other reviews published on this site and I can now say, having completed the course, that I completely agree with the overall positive feedback this school receives.

If I could give one pro, it would definitely be their international job guidance team services. They work really hard with you to make sure you get work after the course and they helped me with finding my job in Argentina.

If I could give one con, it would be that there was no practical teaching experience. But I did choose the Professional course which doesn’t come with classroom teaching so that was ultimately my mistake.

This school is definitely a very good choice!

The Best places to teach English abroad in 2026.

The issue with using superlatives is that experiences are subjective and what one person will describe as being the best isn’t necessarily what another person will. So these 5 teaching English destinations are generally considered to be the best TEFL destinations of 2026, but shouldn’t be considered a set-in-stone compulsory list. Destinations are listed alphabetically. Remember: before buying your ticket and packing that travel bag, always research country entrance requirements and employment visa laws.

(1) Cambodia. The land of the Khmer has been developing at a steady rate in recent times and you will find little issue in finding a relatively well-paid teaching English job in the main cities of Battambang, Phnom Penh, or Siem Reap. Forget the image of teaching on a beach though – an increasing marketing ploy adopted by some TEFL schools to entice new students onto their courses – as it is in the cities where you will find teaching English positions. Wages vary, but generally speaking, you should expect to earn around USD 10 per hour with a TEFL certificate, with the hourly wage increasing slightly in Phnom Penh and decreasing slightly in Siem Reap. It is possible to apply for job positions from abroad, but more preferable to be in-country when you apply. See our 10 tips on finding a teaching English overseas job for more information on this. A degree is preferred, but not mandatory. USD 10 might not sound like much, but considering the generous affordability of day-to-day life, it will contribute to a much more than ample monthly salary. Plus, the locals are extremely warm and hospitable. And at the weekends when you might find yourself wanting a break from urban life? Well, there are all those beaches and islands in the south of the country to stretch out on while sipping chilled 75-cent Angkor beers and affordably munching on delicious seafood.

(2) China. It should come as no surprise to you that the world’s second-largest economy has become the largest TEFL market in the world. Teaching English jobs are easy to come by and the salaries are competitive: $1,500 – 2,000 USD per month on average. A degree in any subject is mandatory. No TEFL certification is required, but having one can often start you off in a higher-paid position. Given China’s strict visa policies, it is recommended to look for teaching English jobs whilst at home and apply from abroad. The top TEFL destinations within China are Beijing, Yangzhou, Harbin, Guilin, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Xi’an. The feedback we have received is that Chinese students are incredibly respectful of teachers and teachers are highly regarded throughout China. Plus, there are lots of public holidays and due to the low cost of living, you can expect to put away a sizeable chunk of your salary each month.

(3) Czechia. Formerly ‘The Czech Republic’, Czechia still retains the title as one of the must-go-to TEFL destinations in the world. It has everything you could wish for accessible countryside, a superb transport system, excellent local beers and wines, hearty cuisine, medieval castles, a favorable location in Central Europe and it’s a much more affordable location than Western Europe. Being a landlocked country though, it is missing the white sands and glistening azure of those beaches. Still, there are hundreds of lakes to choose from, should you have a desire to be close to a large body of water. It is still extremely easy to find teaching English jobs in Prague, but salaries have remained plateaued for some years now and it is no longer the amazing deal that it used to be. However, you should still expect to be earning in the general amount of USD 15 per hour, and around USD 20 if you teach privately. A degree is often stipulated, but in reality, just turning up armed with a TEFL certificate will get your foot in the door. See our FAQs for more information on this. You won’t come out rich, but the experience of teaching English in the Czech Bohemian, Moravian, and Silesian lands is priceless.

(4) Slovakia. Slovakia, you say? Yes, Slovakia! If you are tired of the hoards of tourists that seem to consume every street in Czechia’s capital, then we can recommend its smaller, former sibling: Slovakia. The two countries were, up until fairly recently, connected as one Czechoslovakia, but when the Slovaks voted for independence in 1992, both countries went their separate ways. Like Czech Moravia, Slovakia is steeped in folklore, and spending any time here you will have a sense that there are many traditions very much alive from many days past. Slovakia boasts some excellent cuisine, majestic mountains, and some of Europe’s friendliest people. Also, you can earn more in its capital city, Bratislava than you can in Prague. The hourly rate in Bratislava sits at around USD 20 per teaching hour, with daily costs being on par with Czechia’s capital city. Be warned though that once you venture out of Bratislava, salaries do drop. But prices also drop, so it is a logical trade-off. As with Czechia, it is best to look for work once you are in-country. The only real negative of teaching in Bratislava is the chronic shortage of available apartments for rent, so for the first month or so, you might want to rent a short-term room until you find something more permanent. Other cities in Slovakia where you can easily find teaching English work are Banska Bystrica, Kosice, Nitra, and Presov. Our tip though is to start in Bratislava, where you are an hour’s train ride from Vienna and from where you can easily access other locations within the welcoming, Slovak lands.

(5) Vietnam. Good morning! Vietnam has, in recent times, begun earning the moniker of ‘Asian Tiger’ in reflection of its booming economy. And wherever there is a boom in the economy there is a growing middle class, and wherever there is a growing middle class there is a surge in demand for English language tuition. If this list were ranked by the most favorable location, then Vietnam would be at the top. It has everything: mountains, picture-postcard coastlines, energetic metropolises, some of the world’s best coffee, outstanding food, and much, much more. The country is often (crudely) divided into north and south, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City being the default central hubs for English teachers looking to get on the teaching English gravy train. Salaries range from $1,000 to 2,000 USD per month, depending on the school you work for and your qualifications. Teaching English jobs are easy to come by, with the majority of ex-pats choosing to settle in Ho Chi Minh City. A university degree is mandatory for the work permit process, although it is sometimes possible to navigate around this rule. A TEFL certificate will increase your chances of finding work with more reputable companies. The cost of living is low and the options for travel throughout the region are endless. If we were to pick one location to start out teaching English abroad, it would be Vietnam.

10 tips on finding a teaching English overseas job.

Let’s face it, the reason why anyone takes a TEFL course is to find an English teaching job afterward. Contacting your TEFL provider should be your first go-to, but if you come up against a blank wall then here are 10 tips on finding a TEFL job to set you on the right path.

(1) Prepare a CV that is tailored to teaching English. If you have teaching experience then add this. If you don’t, then try to beef up your CV by adding mention of your TEFL course modules or any teaching practicum which was covered on your course.

(2) Once you have your sights set on a teaching English abroad location, you should go online and do a search for a list of language schools. Try and gain as much teacher feedback as possible because if a school treats their teachers badly then it’s sure to be well-documented on the web.

(3) Ensure that your email address gives a good first impression. It is recommended that your email address includes just your full name, and possibly your year of birth if your name is already taken by someone else. Don’t worry if you can’t find an available email address on one of the larger email platforms. Open up a local email account in your target country. This will give schools the impression more that you are committed to teaching where they are located.

(4) So you’re all ready to send off your CV and cover letter to a host of Bcc school email addresses? Don’t! Taking your time to address each school individually will considerably increase your chances of a response.

(5) Check your Junk Email folder. Not every email makes it to your Inbox.

(6) Always follow up! Haven’t heard back from a school? We recommend either re-sending the email or personally turning up to the school with a smile and your CV in hand.

(7) When invited for an interview, always dress as smartly as you can. It’s time to wear that tie or blouse you bought and have never used!

(8) Don’t sweat it too much during the interview. If you have been invited to attend one then high chances are that they are looking for an English teacher and might even be desperately looking for one. Don’t undersell yourself and always try negotiating the teaching contract and salary.

(9) Be upfront with the school. If they want a commitment for 2 years but you only want to stay for 6 months then let them know. Better to be honest now than to find yourself in hot water 6 months down the line. And it wouldn’t be fair on the school either.

(10) Accept that the school takes a chunk of your teaching salary. They have probably worked hard, for many years, to build up their clientele and reputation. But, don’t be a walkover (see tip 8.)

Money was tight and there were no onsite TEFL or TESOL certification classes available in the local area so my choice was limited to online TEFL/TESOL certification. I chose the ITTT 120-Hour TEFL online course because they advertised Technical Support and Job Guidance. Mixed emotions really. Overall, I felt the course was good and the detailed review of grammar was helpful. I was disappointed there were no video or interactive tutorials, but I see now that these are only offered together with the 220-Hour Master Package. I was also really impressed with the phonetics section in which the phonic chart was introduced and I refer back to this up until this day for use in my classes. The “Lifetime Job Support” was pretty meh and I found myself not needing it as soon as my foot was in the door of my first paid teaching job. They will help you take the first steps to find a teaching English abroad job, but it’s little more than a list of schools and I was expecting more. Not sure if they’ll keep doing this for the rest of your life and not sure if you’ll really need it either when you are 90. Their certificate does look great: embossed and shiny. So overall, I’d say the course was pretty good but the price of the course – including the time extension – really added up and made for an overall expensive program. I can’t really say I would recommend ITTT, but I’m sure you can do much worse.

The whole process of searching for an e-learning tefl course to take was time-consuming as there are so many schools and so many course options. After a few weeks, I was able to narrow the filter of my search criteria and I began searching for courses that offered 120-hour study, international job guidance, and positive feedback from program graduates. I chose MyTEFL based on its program ticking all 3 criteria.

I must write that I thought the communication with the school was good and that they answered most of my questions quickly and informatively. Access to the course was provided as soon as I made my tefl course purchase and the login area had no bugs or anything like that.

The course though is definitely not 120 hours. I could have completed it in 24 hours if I felt inclined to. And the course content was laughable. My sister could have taken it and passed. And she is 11.

Now, the main reason I chose MyTEFL to take my online TEFL certification was because of the many positive reviews listed on the net. But recently I read on TrustedTEFLReviews that some online TEFL programs adopt the affiliates marketing model and I can clearly see now that MyTEFL does too. That 40% discount I received when I signed up? That would have been commission money paid from MyTEFL to the graduate who convinced me to go for it and sign up for MyTEFL.

I’m sure MyTEFL isn’t the worst course out there but readers do need to be warned that they do, in my opinion, employ dubious marketing tactics to sell their courses. I can see now that I shouldn’t have been fooled so easily by some of the glowing reviews and testimonials I found on the net of MyTEFL’s online TEFL certification course program.

I did pass the course and it did help me to get a job in the field, but it wasn’t the course or after-course support experience I was led to believe it was going to be. In the future, I won’t be fooled by raving reviews associated with a promo code.

My overall Tefl trainer 140-hour online Tesol course experience was a very positive one and I would recommend this course to anyone considering teaching English abroad as a foreign or second language.

It was extremely thorough and was divided into 3 blocks. Block 1: online (140 hours of videos, text, and interactive exercises) / Block 2: assignments (6 reflective diaries) / Block 3: assignments (6 lesson plans).

I found each of the blocks to be engaging and never felt completely out of my depth. And there was online support when I did need it.

I felt that the TEFL Job Interview Preparation units included were a nice touch, given that I picked up some really useful interviewing tips that I wouldn’t have necessarily known otherwise.

TEFL is a great opportunity to travel and teach. I always wanted to teach English in Hanoi and now I can and so can you too!
