Perfect!!! The course is organized and the content is well presented, making it an all-round user-friendly experience for the student. It is a modular style course which means that you complete one section after another, with motivating quiz questions after every module. This was a perfect system for me personally because I am not a big fan of having to take one big important test at the end of a course. Instead, Uni Prep grades you as you go. It was my first time doing an online course but didn’t have any difficulties. There is also tutor support if you need it. I needed help a few times and the responses I received were professional and helpful. Also, the feedback from tutors on submitted assignments is very helpful and very valuable. I found the grammar section was definitely an eye-opener for me because I discovered and learned so much about my own language that I never thought even existed. This really helped me start to understand what learning English is like from a student’s perspective. I would highly recommend Uni Prep to anyone wanting to do TEFL online.

Bridge TEFL

Unlike other TESL online courses I have recently looked into, the one offered by Bridge has certain set start and end dates. This rigid scheduling would better suit someone who is committed to a 4-week window of the study, mirroring the traditional in-person TESL course program timetables.

TESL online with no extreme positives or negatives.

The course was good. Support was good too. The price of the course and certificate was a little on the steep side but still within my agreed budget. Course feedback was a bit hit or miss. Sometimes the feedback was detailed/relevant and sometimes it seemed I got a bot response. No spelling or grammar errors as some reviewers have brought up when taking some of the other TESL courses. School staff and tutors were friendly, apart from when it was clearly a copy-and-paste response. I neither felt overwhelmed nor underwhelmed with my Bridge TEFL experience.

If I could go back and choose again then I’d choose a more flexible course, where there aren’t specific start and end dates for the course. I just naturally assumed this was how all TESL courses operated until I conducted some post-course research. Unless you are a serious procrastinator and need the time constraints of a 4-week TESL course with no room for flexibility, I’d consider a TESL course where you get more than a month to complete everything.

If you are happy with the rigid scheduling then I’d say go for the Bridge TEFL course. It’s a safe bet program.

OISE UoT TEFL was a really good experience. The enrollment process was pretty seamless and I was able to start classes the following week. A lot was covered in the course and they also offer recommendations for further reading. The classes are very self-paced; meaning I was able to study at my own pace as opposed to attending a regular classroom program. The admin staff and tutors were good and very helpful. In moments that needed something, they did their best to get back to me. I never needed to wait for more than a day or two for a full response back. The admin staff is also very good at getting your problems solved. I had a duplicate payment issue (my fault entirely) and was charged twice by mistake. I contacted my bank and they told me just to wait 30 days and then I would get back the money but when I contacted UoT they immediately rectified the error for me and I had the duplicate payment amount back in my account within 7 days. I also really appreciated the help provided by their partner company Teach Away, who worked with me on my teaching job objectives. I found it really easy to find a teaching online job after the course. This, in part, was because of the tremendous support that I received from Teach Away. I can recommend it!

The course was excellent BUT I think the school really should be more open on its website about how demanding it is to take the course. It’s made out to be just like other online Tesol programs. In reality, it’s way more complicated than what my fellow teachers experienced when taking their courses. For starters, this isn’t one of your study-as-you-go programs. There is a specific start day and a specific time for when you have to have everything completed. 4 weeks in total. There is some room for maneuvering between the scheduling, but not much. I also found the study platform extremely complicated to negotiate around at first. ITA uses an outsourced platform for their Tesol course and (no joke) they give you a few days just to familiarize yourself with how to work with this system. You get a hang of it after a few days, but that’s a few days of some serious hair-pulling moments. You should also account for the extra expense of paying for the certificate. If you can look past all this then I would recommend going with ITA. The tuition is top-notch.

Hello all, I was looking for ways to earn additional income and much to my surprise discovered that it is possible to do so by teaching English to online students. At first, I thought it might be one of those scams that just take your money, but you really can do it and I view this as being a door into a future career conducted solely online. After some research, I decided to take the online tuition plunge with the CIEE TEFL training program. Over the years, I’ve also had various forms of training but never online, so it really was a plunge into the deep end for me. What I found incredibly appealing was the fact that the training program is self-paced so there are no specific hours you need to block in order to be able to take the course. The course was much easier to follow than I had anticipated and the instructors were available to give feedback and help. The education I received was well worth the money in my opinion and I believe that the certificate from this program will be a tremendous “bell and whistle” for any professional in the “community” to have on his or her resume. I fully endorse the CIEE TEFL program and encourage anyone interested to take a moment and give them a call, their staff is extremely helpful, receptive to prospective new students, and very user-friendly. Don’t buy everything you read on the internet or in the review chat rooms, much (if not all) of the (anonymous) negative postings about CIEE TEFL are either from their competitors or students who failed out of the program …… no surprise there. I don’t work for CIEE and if anyone would like to verify my independence in giving this impartial honest assessment of CIEE need only to post their contact information in response to my post and I’ll be happy to reach out to them.
