I have recently completed The Tefl Academy’s Level 5 certificate.

I was wondering if there is an article on this site I can be directed to that advises on the steps to take if reimbursement is being sought or whether there is a website or organisation where one can verify the validity of their certificate?

Two countries where the certificates of TTA The TEFL Academy are not accepted or recognized are Ireland and Cyprus.

TTA the TEFL Academy has its main headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, and a secondary headquarters in Hove, Brighton (England).

The country where they have their main headquarters doesn’t recognize their certificates.

The biggest issue with programs offering Level TEFL courses is that they are taught in British English and are mainly known within the United Kingdom.

When you show your Level TEFL course anywhere else – abroad, online, and overseas – very few schools know what a Level TEFL course means and they will ALWAYS request that you have a 120-hour TEFL/TESOL certificate, or a 140-hour TEFL/TESOL certificate with 20 hours of teaching practice added.

That’s not to say that the certificates issued by TTA The TEFL Academy are worthless.

They are, however, no better (and in many cases much worse) than having a 120-hour or 140-hour TEFL/TESOL certificate.

The lingering question of the lack of legitimate accreditation remains with the TTA The TEFL Academy program.

They will, of course, try to convince you otherwise.

One thing that they are amazing at is marketing their brand and smear-campaign attacking any competitor that they perceive is reducing their market share.

They also apply this pattern of behavior to independently run TEFL TESOL review websites.

TTA The TEFL Academy has tried to bully Trusted TEFL Reviews (a not-for-profit independently run TEFL TESOL reviews website) into taking down negative verified reviews of their program. Every time they threaten us, we simply ignore them as much as possible.

The only reviews that we have deleted have been TTA The TEFL Academy reviews that were clearly written by individuals who were paid to write them, and reviews that were very likely written by staff members of the program.
