If you want to work in the EFL industry, this course is a good choice. It only took me 4 weeks to complete it in total. Found teaching work online easy with the certification. My only critical point is they don’t offer many further training courses. When they do, I’ll be signing up for one. This is a very organized company and their online tutors know what they are discussing. You can’t go wrong!

This school is really easy to work with. It was 100% online. Consists of different course modules, lesson planning tasks, and the teaching practicum. I wasn’t required to travel anywhere for classes and I taught students online for the practical teaching component of the course. My tutor was very responsive and always available. I work a 45 hr week and was able to complete the program in 3 months. The teaching component took more time to complete than I expected but that was because I wasn’t always free when my students were free to have a lesson. We always managed to work it out though so in the end everything ran smoothly for everyone. This TEFL program isn’t as cheap as some of the others, but I thought it offered good value for money. The training is on a very high level. Something you wouldn’t find in a really cheap course I think. I’m now preparing everything for my move to South Korea, where I’ll be getting paid $3k per month, I think I’ll be able to save $1k of that and that’s with all other expenses taken into account so I should have a nice sum saved in a year’s time from now. Definitely recommend the program to anyone thinking about it.

What I loved about this course was the interactive element with fellow trainees, creating a discussion pool where we swapped ideas and helped each other out in difficult areas of grammar awareness. I did feel that there could have been a lot more emphasis on lesson planning rather than creating cultural projects for different teaching geographic locations but I’m certain this will become invaluable for whichever country I decide will be my new home away from home.

The 150-hour TEFL course does take up almost 11 weeks. I’m not sure if everyone would be able to commit to such a long period, considering it’s a majority online TEFL/TESOL/TESL course, but if you do and can, you will love this alternative method of learning to Teach English as a Foreign Language abroad.

Before taking this course, I knew nothing about teaching English. But now, I’m much more aware of the different grammar families and how they can most effectively be taught to non-native English speakers.

I would like to thank the online tutors, who were patient and supportive. Many times I reached out for help and each time I did the help was there for me. The section in the course where I experienced the most difficulties was when I had to present two or more grammar tenses. It’s relatively easy presenting one tense, but trying to present more at the same time means you have to focus on what differentiates each in common daily usage. In these teaching situations, a clearly defined timeline is your best friend.

Despite the intensity and the need to learn a lot of new information, I never felt overwhelmed by the course. The assignments effectively help you remember the content and demonstrate how best to present it to students. I particularly enjoyed creating lesson plans from scratch and then reading the feedback and making notes of where there was room for further improvement.

The CIEE TEFL course met and then exceeded my expectations. I recommend the program.
