I could not have enjoyed my time at Vantage TEFL Bangkok more. The program was incredibly supportive and this community spirit motivated me to achieve success on this TEFL certification course that came recommended by a friend who has lived in Bangkok for years. I took the theory part of the course online and then traveled to the center each day to complete the mandatory and very enjoyable teacher training practice hours in person. The ease of completing the course on my own time made it a wonderful experience. All the staff at Vantage TEFL are wonderful. This is Thai hospitality at its best and I must say that I experience this warm reception in my daily life around the city daily. Thais are happy, warm people. In addition, the courses were organized well. Each professor made it easy to find what materials and teaching techniques would be needed for each lesson I took and completed. The course was simple to navigate and I found the community discussion/jobs boards to be particularly useful. If I ever had any questions, both the professors and school management were always reachable by email and responded quickly and efficiently. Also, any phone call I had with Vantage TEFL Bangkok was pleasant as well. I spoke with my professor frequently and I was always assisted and my questions were answered. I highly recommend this program if you are considering pursuing a career teaching English in Bangkok.

Vantage is the best TEFL option in Thailand.

There are a bunch of TEFL schools operating in Thailand, meaning it was a bit difficult to decide on which one to take. All of them appear to offer the same type of qualification, and most of them seem to have good student feedback. A couple of them even offer their courses near the beach. However, when I dug deeper into these I began to doubt the seriousness of those courses. Their websites are full of beach pics showing TEFL students having fun in the sea, but not much about the nitty-gritty specifics of the syllabus. Vantage, on the other hand, was upfront with me from the start about what I would be covering in the course and what to expect when I began teaching.

This is the TEFL school you should go through if you have decided to teach English in Thailand. Yes, the course can be demanding in places, but by the end, you will have a sufficient foundation to teach Thai students English. If you are going to invest in a TEFL course, you might as well take a course that will prepare you properly for the job ahead. That’s my way of thinking anyway.

I didn’t stick around Bangkok for so long after I had completed the course and received the certificate because I wanted to live somewhere a little less hectic. I did meet teachers though who love living in the city. I instead headed up north, to Chiang Mai. Which I love!!! CM is way more chilled than BK. I see that the money teaching is better in BK, but the cost of living is cheaper up here so it seems to roughly even out in terms of what you can and can’t afford. I recommend anyone coming to Thailand to take their TEFL, to take the one offered by Vantage. You get what you pay for and the staff there are so helpful and supportive. Also, consider Chiang Mai as a teaching destination for a laid-back lifestyle and as a city with exceptionally friendly locals. Vantage gets a thumbs-up from me.
