For a city with over 10 million inhabitants, there is a severe shortage of TEFL institutes. The institute that kept coming up in my searches was the Vantage TEFL Institute. When I contacted their office, they were helpful, and what I liked was the option of studying part of the course online, with the other part of teaching practice taking place at their Bangkok premises. This meant taking the course was a much more viable option as I could minimize the time I would need to put aside at an onsite location. The trainers and office staff at the school were helpful and friendly. It was an absolute pleasure making the trip to the center when my classes were scheduled. It was also easy to find a teaching position (within a week or so after I had finished the course) because the demand for teachers in the city was high. If you do not have the TEFL yet and want to teach in Bangkok, I advise taking this course.

TEFL Bangkok. Easily the best TEFL course in Thailand.

The Vantage TEFL (combination) course went far beyond my expectations and I can’t recommend the program enough. This is one of the online/in-class courses, where I studied the theory online and then taught in-class (practicum) at their downtown school. I made a list of some of the things that I especially loved about the program.

• The staff is very helpful and friendly – this applies to both the online and on-location staff.
• I thought the price was very reasonable for what you receive from the whole course package.
• I was able to use the certification without any problems here in Thailand.
• The school provides support if you need it during the course and later on afterward.
• The course is presented in a logical format and my tutor was very encouraging.
• The support and feedback given during my in-class practicum were excellent.
• The teaching practice component elevates the prestige of the certification.

Overall I highly recommend Vantage TEFL in Bangkok, if you are looking to teach English in Thailand. They have contacts throughout the country and so can pass contacts your way when looking for work when the course is complete. Everyone at the school is super friendly too.

Finally, Vantage TEFL knows the country inside out – they can recommend where to settle and teach. I enjoyed the month staying in Bangkok, but knew I wanted to live and teach somewhere a lot less hectic. Vantage recommended Krabi to me, so I took a weekend trip down and have been here ever since!

Thailand is amazing. I highly recommend teaching English here!

I have to write that I just love teaching English in Thailand. Thailand is a fantastic place to teach English!

I’m located in Chiang Mai. It’s technically a city, in the north of Thailand, with about 100,000 inhabitants. But while it is Thailand’s second-largest conurbation, it doesn’t have all of the negatives I experienced when I lived and worked in Bangkok. CM is more of a large town than a city.

When I was teaching at BKK, my daily journey to work took me an hour on a good day and an hour and a half to 2 hours if there was particularly bad traffic congestion. Traffic congestion is an unfortunate trade-off when working in BKK and on most days it took me about 3 hours to make the round trip from home to school and then back home again. The salaries are higher in Bangkok and there are beaches and islands pretty close by, but after getting my first teaching contract done and dusted I took the advice of a friend and traveled north to the much more chilled-out Chiang Mai.

For a 25-hour working week, I earn (take home) 32,000 Baht. This is roughly $1,000 US per month.

Things are a lot cheaper up here though and 32,000 is actually enough to pay for my rent, food, utilities, yoga, etc. You won’t become rich by teaching here, but who comes to Thailand to get rich anyway? I came for the friendly people, the landscapes, the weather, and the excellent food. Chiang Mai has it all.

I wholeheartedly recommend CM as a teaching destination and I also recommend Vantage TEFL, which I took my TEFL through. Having the Vantage TEFL certificate has been the passport I needed to get started in Thailand.

Hybrid TEFL Combined Class. This is hands down the best TEFL school in Thailand.

I moved to SE Asia in 2015 to follow the usual tourist route through Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. The original intention was to travel for 6 months and then return home to settle and get a “proper job” but the travel bug got to me, as did SE Asian culture. I have a 3-year Bachelor’s, so I knew I could extend my stay in the region by teaching English. I thought I could wing teaching with just the degree for credentials. I thought wrong. It turned out that there was a lot more to teaching than just conversation and I very quickly realized I was way out of my depth with even a basic understanding of how to teach grammar. After a year of pretty much failing as a teacher in Vietnam, I moved to Bangkok and decided to take a TEFL class. I took the class because I didn’t want to be that teacher that students complain about for not being able to teach properly. Vantage TEFL was a name that kept popping up in my online search, so I arranged for an appointment at their Bangkok branch and came out of that meeting having put down the full course payment. The course was truly excellent. Apart from teaching me everything I should have known before I had even set foot in a classroom, this course also covered important classroom management techniques. The feedback on the classroom teaching practicum was also invaluable. Everyone at Vantage was very professional, very positive, and very supportive. This is the program that you need to train through if you need to take your TEFL in Thailand.

Is Vantage TEFL Legit?

Is Vantage TEFL Legit? This is one of the best TEFL TESOL options if you want to teach English in Thailand.

I’m not sure how recognized this certification is worldwide, but what I know for certain is that it is recognized throughout Thailand and I would strongly recommend taking this TEFL TESOL course if you have your sights set on teaching English over here. I’ve applied for a few jobs, all over Thailand, and all the language schools I applied to knew of the existence of this school. I can, therefore, confidently write that Vantage TEFL has a pretty good reputation throughout Thailand.

Vantage offers a combination TEFL TESOL course; meaning you take part in it online and take the teaching practicum in the center of Bangkok. Their offices are easy to find and I personally never had any issues with their office staff. Every time I contacted them (in person or through email/telephone) they were professional and forthcoming.

I chose to stay in Bangkok and teach. One thing to bear in mind is that schools will start you off on only a few hours per week, but after a month or so (when they see you are reliable) they will inundate you with lessons. Private students are pretty easy to pick up too, but I gave all mine to a friend last year because I just wasn’t prepared to put up with the constant cancellations and time changes. When you teach for a school, you have a definite schedule and if a student cancels last minute (as they often do) it means you still get paid.

Thai students are amazing to teach. Thailand is amazing. I recommend Thailand as a place to teach English.
