This has been an encouraging and motivating course in which I have enjoyed learning about all the different facets of teaching English to online and in-person students, as well as discovering more about the many places where it is possible to teach English. It’s pretty amazing that I can travel the world and earn money by teaching the language I was raised with. The stand-out from the course for me were the activities that the course recommends you use in your individual and group classes. These are so good because they show how you can teach grammar and still make the class interesting and even entertaining for your students. I learned in the course how this is really important to maintain student interest and motivation. It was also beneficial to learn that most teacher books have set step-by-step lesson plan instructions, so even if you are unfamiliar with a specific topic, you can still plan a good lesson around that topic. I’ve also understood that TEFL can’t be learned just in one or two months and the course doesn’t claim to be able to teach you everything in this short time. Instead, they teach you the fundamentals you need when setting out, and then you will pick up more and more knowledge and skills as you further develop as a teacher. The activities will definitely make a difference in my teaching, and I am sure I will have a chance to use the material and resources we have been given in this course. I don’t have any plans at present to travel overseas, so I’m currently teaching a few online classes during the week in tandem with my full-time job commitments. I am really enjoying the process of teaching English online so far. Thank you
