There was no feedback or guidance whilst doing the course and emails routinely went unanswered. The course looks outdated with too much emphasis on theory!!! I wish they had given feedback because I felt blind going through the course. If I had to do my TEFL all over again I wouldn’t choose to take this course. Hopefully, if Premier TEFL is reading my review, they will rethink how they interact with their customers. There is potential in the course – I did learn some important things about teaching – but without the support from the side of Premier TEFL, it’s difficult to judge for yourself if you are heading in the right direction or not.

My reason for choosing to take the Premier TEFL certification course online was that I read an article that was sponsored by this company. I had always wanted to branch out into a different employment field and teaching English felt like the right fit for me. I was happy with the cost of the course, and I had a good feeling from the company representative I spoke with on the phone, so I just went ahead and signed up. I did like how the course was presented and how I was able to study at my own pace. What I didn’t like, however, was the necessity to read through page after page of dense text. I’m a visual learner and would have benefited from a different approach. I also noticed some errors in the text, which did leave me questioning the authenticity of the course. Despite all this though, I did learn a significant amount of new TEFL information and the course did help me to develop my lesson planning skills. I already knew I wouldn’t be using the Premier TEFL job-finding service, because of the low-rated reviews, so I conducted an independent search for teaching jobs online and I found it wasn’t that difficult to find work. You do need to be persistent and keep bugging schools with emails, but it only took me a few months to get started so it is definitely doable. A tip for anyone reading this review is to clarify with your school how long a teaching hour is going to be. My school pays $15 US an hour, and that’s for a 45-minute lesson, so while $15 might not sound that great at first glance it is actually not too bad when you tally it up as a 60-minute class lesson.

I enrolled in this program in early 2020. I didn’t think to read reviews or do my due diligence until afterward. Now I wish I had done my homework because I’m not sure if they’re even accredited. The course was OK. I compared the syllabus to other TEFL programs and it is comparable. Their customer service, though, is little more than an automated email system. Whenever you have a problem with a certain module you communicate with the teacher but no teacher ever gets back to you at all. This got me worried because I knew I would need at least some help finding work (which Premier TEFL write that they provide to their TEFL students) so I was curious about what past alumni of the program had to say. When I did, I saw that they already had very poor reviews from students. I immediately emailed the admissions rep asking to cancel my enrollment. She was nice and she did tell me that it was taken care of. It wasn’t. 9 months later and I am still waiting for my refund. My advice to anyone who’s looking to enroll in the school is don’t do it. You will regret it.

Is Premier TEFL Legit? A good course with good support.

First the bad news. I’d advise you not to pay for the abroad programs. Premier TEFL charges a fee for this. What it essentially means is they charge for connecting you with employment agencies. You can easily find out this information by doing a simple internet search. The certificate costs quite a bit too, which was a bit of a surprise for me.

Now the good news. The course is cheaper than most others I saw advertised. I had a lot of help from the online teacher assigned to me during the course. Studying was a pleasant experience. I learned more than I was expecting. I didn’t find it difficult to find a job.

I was actually surprised by how much demand there is for English teachers. Because of this, it doesn’t make any sense to pay a company to find work for you. Just go online and you will see hundreds if not thousands of jobs for English teachers being advertised. Many of the jobs will ask for a degree and X number of years of teaching experience but when I told them I had neither I managed to be invited for job interviews anyway. Seems the schools ask for a crazy amount of experience just initially to set the bar high. A friend of mine told me about some countries where I would need a degree, so I just didn’t apply for jobs in those ones. She mainly mentioned Japan, Korea, and China.

So is Premier TEFL legit? Yes, it is legit. The course was really great and because of it, I could legally teach English in another country. I’d be aware though of being prepared to shell out more money than the advertised course price.

Many promises were made but in the end, very few were delivered. Trying to get a hold of premier tefl felt like trying to get blood out of a rock at times. And when they did respond, the replies felt like it was an inconvenience to them. As soon as you have completed the course and paid the hidden charge for the certificate (which I was not expecting at all!) they then never respond to your emails unless you show interest in one of their paid internships/job placements abroad. It’s a shame really because I thought the course was pretty good. I hadn’t taught before and I really got into each of the modules. I won’t be recommending premier tefl to anyone.

The learning content was good and I got a lot out of it, despite this being primarily a theoretically-focused course. I guess when I’m ready for getting the teaching skills practicalities I will develop them with the knowledge I attained in this course, in my first classroom setting. I studied the 240-Hour TEFL Expert course and managed to complete everything within the 90-day time limit, but if you do need more time then Premier TEFL are helpful in that they can extend your course for a further 90 days, but this does incur additional costs. I also liked how Premier TEFL was quick in responding to questions and their responses were always constructively professional. If I could then I would change a few things about the course, to make it a bit more challenging. But overall I was satisfied with this choice of online tefl certification course choice.
