While the online experience was good because the online class tutors will take the time to ensure everything is running smoothly regarding the coursework and help with assignments, the school’s general admin support is a bit laggy. Questions about help with writing my resume and help with finding a teaching job online went unanswered, and I didn’t feel I received the promised support from Bridge TEFL. I understand I can search for jobs online by myself, but I could have done with having some guidance – at least because I’m still not sure which schools are worth teaching for and how much a good hourly rate for offering English classes online is. If I had received this support, I would have recommended the program to others. On the other hand, I do feel that I received valuable training and the course was great for someone like me who had no teaching experience at the time. I don’t think it is possible to teach everything you need to know about teaching English in such a short time but Bridge TEFL covered the bases and I know that the information I covered in the course will be relevant when I begin teaching. I have managed to pick up some teaching hours and I am beginning to plan for a trip overseas to teach. All this, though, has taken considerable time and effort without the promised help. I think this course would suit someone who just needs the training and who doesn’t depend on much support from the school.

This is a self-paced course with phenomenal feedback on coursework assignments. The coursework is mainly creating lesson plans, which are an essential feature for planning any English class. As I progressed through the course, my lesson plans began to contain more and more complex information but I was still able to condense something like the Present Perfect into a coherent 60-minute lesson plan.

The main thing this course taught me was to plan every lesson and structure every lesson. As long as you follow these two rules, you significantly avoid teaching a poor lesson and my students do appreciate that I take the time to plan my classes.

I had detailed feedback on all of my lesson plans, together with pointers about where there was room for improvement.

With a universal lesson plan template, you can teach any subject to any class.

You need to buy a good grammar book so when a student tries to test your knowledge you can be ready with an answer. A lot of my students are grammar nerds I don’t mind it. As long as they are willing to test me it shows they are being motivated to learn something from me.

I’m guessing that over time, I will rely less and less on my grammar book, but I’ll still keep a hold of it because some of the grammar I’m expected to teach just blows my mind.

OISE does write that you can’t possibly be expected to know all English grammar examples and not to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of different grammar themes.

My advice is to start by learning the time tenses and prepositions and then gradually increase your knowledge in other areas of grammar.

This a great course for anyone about to start a TEFL job!

I chose this program because it offers the highest-rated 120-hour program out of all the other TEFL programs offering the same number of hours of courses. I can see why it is so highly rated. After I paid for my course I received an email welcoming me to the course and I also got my login details to access the course. These were all sent to me within an hour of signing up. This immediately set a positive tone, which was to last throughout the course. The course is formatted very nicely and the great news for me was that I could also take the modules on my phone. Each module covers a different subject and at the end of each module, there is a multiple-choice quiz. What I also liked were the coursework assignments. There are two in the course – both lesson plans – and these helped solidify the information learned, as well as act as good pointers about how well I was able to present TEFL knowledge in a practical way to my students. I completed the course with a 97% score and I put this down partly to how seriously I took it and partly to how seriously TEFL Online Pro approached the course. The whole course was completed in two weeks. My certificate and recommendation letter were then issued promptly. I also requested further help with resume work and help to find work – both were provided by TEFL Online Pro. Including the discount which was being run at the time, I paid in total, for everything, $199. I thought this was money well spent – considering what you receive for this, and considering how easy it is to earn this amount in only a few days of teaching after the course. Since completing the 120-hour course with TEFL Online Pro, I have made back the course fee so many times over. If you are looking for a fully accredited, internationally recognized TEFL TESOL course with excellent support, look no further. The bonus of taking this course is that it is equivalent to the Level 5 and CELTA certification courses, which are more expensive to take.
