I took the International TEFL Academy course and overall, it did what it promised. The course content was solid, the structure was clear, and I did feel prepared to begin teaching afterward. In that sense, it delivered.

That said, I felt the price was a bit too high for what was offered. While the support and resources were decent, they didn’t really go above and beyond compared to other, more affordable TEFL programs. For the amount I paid, I expected more personalization or added value.

If you’re looking for a course with a strong reputation and don’t mind spending more, ITA might still be a good option. But if you’re on a budget, it’s worth comparing alternatives.

I enrolled in The TEFL Academy’s (TTA) Level 5 course expecting it to open doors for me internationally. While the course content itself was average — not great, not terrible — my biggest issue lies with how the qualification is marketed and the way the company has handled things after the course.

The biggest confusion I’ve faced is around the “Level 5” label. It sounds impressive, but in practice, almost every employer I’ve spoken to is just asking for a 120-hour TEFL certificate. No one seems to understand or care about the “Level 5” designation. I’ve had to explain it over and over again, and it has honestly made my job applications more confusing, not less.

What made things worse was TTA’s aggressive approach to getting reviews. I received repeated emails asking — almost demanding — that I leave a review. I replied and said I didn’t want to, but then I noticed a review with my full name posted on a different review platform. I never wrote or approved that review. That kind of dishonest and potentially illegal behavior completely shattered any remaining trust I had in this company.

If it weren’t for that, I probably would have given this course 3 stars. It met the minimum expectations for a TEFL course. But given how my name was used without consent and how the course is misrepresented to students, I feel I have no choice but to rate this experience 1 star.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend The TEFL Academy. There are more transparent and trustworthy TEFL providers out there. Be cautious, especially when it comes to what you’re actually getting — and how your information might be used.

Despite repeated attempts to contact them by email and phone, I was ignored, and on several occasions, they even hung up on me. There was no support, no refund, and no way to get my money back. This company is unprofessional and unreliable. I strongly advise against using TEFL Universal. Look elsewhere for a legitimate TEFL provider.

I took the Bridge TEFL course recently, and while it was okay overall, I don’t think it was worth the high price. The content was solid and covered the basics of teaching English, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. For the amount I paid, I expected more in terms of depth, support, or added value.

It felt like you’re mostly paying for the brand name rather than a premium experience. There are other TEFL courses out there that offer similar quality for a much lower cost. If price isn’t an issue for you, it might be a fine choice. But for most people, I’d recommend comparing a few more options first.

I recently completed the TEFL course offered by i-to-i, and while the course content itself was decent, I’ve had some issues that leave me feeling uncertain about recommending it.

The course was okay overall — the platform was easy to use, and the modules were fairly well organized. It provided a good introduction to TEFL concepts, including lesson planning, grammar, and classroom management. The self-paced nature of the course was a plus for me, and the assignments were manageable.

However, the biggest problem is that I still haven’t received my certificate, even though I completed everything. I’ve reached out to customer support, but the response has been slow and unhelpful so far. This is disappointing, especially since the certificate is essential for applying to jobs.

I also came across online discussions suggesting that i-to-i may have gone through bankruptcy or changed ownership recently. I can’t confirm this, but the fact that multiple people are mentioning delayed certificates and poor communication is definitely concerning.

If you’re just looking to get a basic TEFL qualification and aren’t too worried about job placement or top-tier accreditation, i-to-i might be passable. But if you’re planning to teach abroad seriously or need guaranteed certificate delivery, I’d advise caution.

I enrolled in The TEFL Academy’s Level 5 course based on its strong marketing and seemingly high ratings, but unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. While the course promises in-depth training and strong job support, I found several areas lacking in quality and follow-through.

First, the course content felt generic and overly theoretical. While some modules covered important topics like lesson planning and classroom management, the material often lacked depth and practical application. The activities and assignments seemed outdated, and there was little emphasis on modern teaching tools or real-world classroom scenarios.

Another major issue I encountered was poor tutor support. The course is marketed as having access to experienced tutors, but in practice, responses were slow and often unhelpful. Feedback on assignments felt like templates and impersonal, which made it hard to gauge real progress or improve based on critique.

Additionally, I was disappointed by the job placement assistance. It’s one of their selling points, but in reality, it’s mostly a list of generic job board links that you could easily find on your own with a quick Google search. There was no personalized support, no resume guidance, and certainly no placement help. It felt more like a checkbox feature than a real service.

Perhaps most frustrating was the lack of transparency in their accreditation claims. While the course is regulated by Ofqual and labeled as a “Level 5” qualification, this does not automatically mean it’s universally recognized. When I applied to a few reputable schools in Asia and the Middle East, I was surprised to learn that some did not recognize the certificate or questioned its legitimacy. This left me feeling misled.

In hindsight, I wish I had researched more thoroughly and compared a few different providers before committing. While The TEFL Academy might be sufficient for someone just looking to tick the certification box, I wouldn’t recommend it for those who are serious about getting solid training and genuine job support.

There are other TEFL providers out there that offer more personalized learning, better support, and clearer accreditation for the same (or even lower) price.
