It’s a bit rich Bridge TEFL terming their 120-hour Online TEFL/TESOL study course ‘Master’ because clearly to me and my work colleagues, it covers the same materials as other TEFL courses do over 120 hours. That’s not to say it isn’t a good course though, but I don’t think it’s worth $391 when other courses covering the same amount of hours and the same content charge less than this. I also wasn’t ready for the hidden certification fee. When I brought this up with the Bridge TEFL staff, they just repeated their request for the certification fee. A good course. Extra costs make this an expensive TEFL.

Premier English Teacher Certification. Bridge TEFL was a good choice.

The 210-Hour Teaching English Online + Practicum was the natural choice as I needed the basic foundations of an online TESOL course coupled with the teaching practice element. Bridge TEFL operate out of Denver, Colorado, so taking one of their courses also means being able to earn college credit.

The course took a month to complete in total – similar to a 4-week onsite TESOL course – but slightly cheaper and way more convenient. All classes are taught online, as is the teaching practicum. With the teaching practicum, I was teaching online students – something which I see is becoming more and more popular these days. I am looking forward to being able to teach face-to-face though. I think I would prefer human interaction in a classroom setting more than online tutoring. Online tutoring does have its benefits, such as not needing to travel to work and being able to cram more lessons into the day. I sometimes find though that it is difficult to motivate students online – especially if they don’t have me on full screen. The money is good though and I can’t complain. When the pandemic has died down I will probably head to Asia to work there as I’ve heard the money is fantastic and I love Asian culture too. In the meantime, though I’m satisfied teaching English online to (mostly) Asian students.

Overall I was pleased and I recommend the school.

Firstly, let me get the part I didn’t like about the course out of the way.

When I was emailing to gather more information about the course, the responses were generally very fast and detailed. After I paid and when I needed help from my online tutor, the responses were generally slow and felt automated. I know that it’s a big company and they can’t possibly channel all of their efforts into replying to existing customer questions, but this is an education facility and I did hope to receive much better feedback – especially when it came to my lesson plans. So if you are reading this Bridge TEFL, I would recommend improvement in this area.

And now, what I really liked about the course.

It is a very interesting course and really simplifies well the often very complicated subject matter – grammar being the obvious area where things become trickier. The format of the classes is really well-designed and the course has a serious feel to it. No TEFL mill feeling here. What I particularly valued was the intelligent progression of the course content structure; starting off light and simple and progressively becoming more difficult as you proceed. Each module signs off onto another module which feels organic and the logical next step – the result of this really smart system is that the impact of entering a difficult part of the course seems positive because you can see there is a method and the previous modules will have prepared you for it.

The Bridge TEFL course was good. It’s just a shame the feedback let them down a bit.

Is Bridge TEFL Legit? Bridge TEFL 120-hour Master Diploma certification course student feedback.

The Bridge TEFL 120-hour Master Diploma certification course online was a thorough, detailed program and it became obvious to me as soon as I began the course that a whole lot of thought had been placed on the content when the people designing the course were putting it together. It’s very well-structured in that each module reflects a building on information contained within the previous unit. Even though it took a good couple of weeks to receive any kind of feedback on my work, when I did receive it my tutor was extremely helpful and thorough. The 120-hour course is labelled as being a ‘Master Diploma’ but the reality check is that this is a run of the mill 120-hour TEFL course and the term ‘Master Diploma’ is purely for marketing purposes. It’s just not possible to transform into a Master of TEFL after studying a 120-hour TEFL|TESOL course. The course does, however, go into real detail. The learning platform is a mixture of texts and video tutorials and despite the quality not always being the best (this could have been down to my internet connection at the time) the visual learning experience symbiotically fits perfectly with the nitty-gritty complexities of the text content. This definitely has to be one of the more serious 120-hour TEFL|TESOL online certification courses on offer on the web.

The only disappointment was after I received my certificate and then never heard back from Bridge TEFL again. I would have liked to have been able to access the course longer and any employment search support would have helped immensely as I hadn’t a clue really where the best places to teach were and what scams I should be looking out for during the employment process. This is an area where Bridge TEFL should improve on. But otherwise, apart from this, I give the Bridge TEFL 120-hour ‘Master’ Diploma a high grade.
