150 TESOL Premier Plus course Global English review, submitted by Caitlin.

My motivation for taking this course was to prepare myself better for when I start teaching children in China next year. I assumed it would just be ok to have a degree in Education, but apparently, that’s not enough for the school which I’ve signed a teaching contract with and they insisted I take a TESOL course. They didn’t stipulate whether it had to be taken at a school somewhere, so I went for the much cheaper online option.

I liked the course. I do have some teaching experience from when I volunteered in Cambodia, so I did have a general awareness of how to teach and what should be taught before taking this course. There was a lot I didn’t know of course, and this was mostly covered within the 150 TESOL Premier Plus course syllabus.

I know it’s not the fault in any way of Global English, and not the fault of the school which I will be reaching for, but I really didn’t see the necessity of taking a TEFL course when I have a 3-year degree and when I have teaching experience. I guess their logic is that they want their teachers to be knowledgeable in TEFL teaching, but a 4-week TESOL course can’t possibly prepare you for teaching as much as a 3-year degree does. Oh well, never mind. Perhaps it’s because of the work permit or visa which is why it’s required.

Anyways, this course was without any major issues and I got what I needed out of it.

I liked the price and the content. Overall I highly recommend the course, which comes with free online tutor access, excellent customer service, and international job support by the end. You get two documents once you finish: the international TEFL TESOL certificate with valid certificate numbers and a letter of recommendation. Both look professional. Of the many TEFL sites that exist, this one teaches you things that you can carry into your classroom. They helped me with the paperwork needed to apply for South Korea, and they are partnered with good companies. One negative was the amount of time it took to get from passing the course to traveling out to South Korea, but this is due to the bureaucratic nature of the South Korean teaching English program system and not in any way the fault of tefl online pro. I’m sure there are good and bad companies to take your TEFL with out there, and my experience with tefl online pro puts them on the top of that pile. Especially with how much support they help you with.

I’m in the middle of taking the Professional Tefl Online Pro course. With the discount, I paid about $200 for the course and so far it is excellent. I’ll easily make that money back in just one day by teaching English in South Korea!

The modules are engaging and easy to follow. I wouldn’t exactly describe them as like taking a walk in the park, but the user-friendly coursework notes set you up to succeed.

The person who wrote this course must be a grammar nerd because you feel the excitement whenever a grammar topic gets presented I’m beginning to share his/her excitement a little too, but grammar was never really my number one priority (lmao). But hey, stuff happens

Top marks by the way to Paul for helping me get started on the course and following up on his promise that he would personally be my online tutor help. I originally thought I had to pay for this, but it’s included in the price of the course fee.

It’s also really cool how you can work either online or offline.

The only downer so far was when I forgot my password and had to wait until the Tefl Online Pro office reset it for me. I didn’t realize you could reset it yourself at the start of the course to make it more memorable. Perhaps they should make this clearer when people like myself log in for the first time.

Anyways, nothing bad to report so far and the more I study on the course the more excited I get about thinking about where I’m going to be teaching when I’m finished in a few weeks’ time. I mean, damn it! I’ve got a whole load of countries on my bucket list and this TEFL is my bucket list ticket!

I’ll update if anything negative does pop up. So far though, everything is awesome just as other reviewers have reported back on.
