I liked the pace of this course. They don’t rush you; meaning you have a good few months to get everything done. I needed a full three months because I was also working a full-time job at the time, so I was only able to manage work on the course on some evenings during the week and then whole days on Saturdays and Sundays. I haven’t had the opportunity to use the certification yet because I have yet to complete my work contract, but when I do, I plan to travel to Vietnam to work where I’ve read good money is to be made teaching English.

I finished the tefl online pro professional course in December – it was the best on-line course experience that I’ve had so far. I’ve taken so many on-line courses but this one stood out in particular because of the human support on the other end. Most other courses have a chat bot when you need help but when I needed help with my tefl online pro course I spoke with an actual person. The speed with which my tutor got back to me was also a stand-out positive about this course program.

I chose the hard-copy certificate (digital is also an option) and that was delivered to me within two weeks of course completion. It has a unique international identification number on it, together with the fully accredited seal, and feels and looks great.

I now teach English on-line and I’m planning on moving to Vietnam later this year where I will teach at an international English school. Vietnam requires the hard-copy certificate. I have all my ducks lined up in a row and it’s just a matter of time now before I relocate.

You never have to wait more than a day for assistance if you need it and when you do get it it is personal feedback from your online tutor. If you have questions about job assistance, you contact the main office and they also get back to you within their promise of 24 hours. The course (120-hour) was very good with many true-life examples of classroom games and activities. I found the modules on grammar difficult but that’s because they don’t teach us grammar at school! Have been using the certificate and the reference letter since arriving in Vietnam and can confirm the certificate is accepted here. I still ask the main office questions and they still answer, despite not being one of their students anymore. 9/10 for the course and the assistance.

Teach English in Vietnam. I spent 1 amazing year teaching English in Hanoi, Vietnam.

When I turned 30 I decided to make a change in my life so I enrolled in the TEFL and chose to study for this qualification online. Online just made a lot more sense to me. I was still working full-time at the time and I just didn’t have the resources to take 4 weeks out to take one of the in-person TEFL certification courses. The TEFL Institute of Ireland turned out to be a solid choice. The school website is very easy to navigate and it was easy to enroll and begin the course. No fussing around with long application forms or anything like that. It took me 5 weeks to complete all the very interesting modules and then I received the certificate roughly a couple of weeks later. TEFL Institute of Ireland don’t offer job placement services abroad but they will help you with very useful information. They helped me to decide upon Vietnam as a potential teaching English destination and after a further couple of weeks of research, I decided that Vietnam was the country I would be choosing to travel to and teach in. I chose Hanoi because I read how overcrowded and congested HCMC is and that wasn’t what I signed up for. Hanoi on the other hand was way more chilled and I only had positive experiences when I lived there. I can’t recommend Hanoi enough. I was earning roughly 20 US an hour and this meant I lived a comfortable life there. A meal in a mom-and-pop restaurant is only a dollar or so, so you can understand why 20 US an hour is such great money over there. I would recommend the TEFL Institute of Ireland as a reliable school to take your TEFL through.

I am a graduate of the TEFL Online Pro 120-hour TESOL certificate course; taken in November of last year.

As with others who have expressed their feedback, I also decided on this program because of its high ranking and positive student feedback. Also, the course fee seemed good value when you account for everything that is included as part of the course package.

I should add a bit about my history here. I taught High School English and Spanish for many, many years and despite loving my vocation, at the grand age of 40, I felt that it was time to branch out in a different career path – one that would (preferably) allow me to utilize my skills and at the same time allow me the freedom and independence to travel the world and earn money whilst doing so. I know, a tall order

I stumbled upon the possibilities of TEFL (as most others likely do too) when I was searching online for ways to travel and work, and TEFL seemed like a perfect fit. I’m not a spring chick anymore, and I do realize that most people taking these courses are in their twenties or thirties, but I read on and my hopes were raised when I read that you can teach TEFL into your sixties! And some teachers are even teaching in their late seventies!

So, to cut a potentially long-winded story short ( ) I enrolled in the TEFL Online Pro certification course.

The course content and general support: are EXCELLENT!

Despite having taught English for a good 20 years, I was pleasantly surprised by how deep the content goes and how much it covers. Plus, it is presented in a lovely, user-friendly format. I could study on my tablet or laptop – something which I did interchangeably, depending on whether I was at home or out somewhere at the time.

I’m not sure whether this is how all of these TEFL schools operate, but TEFL Online Pro was always available – often at very short notice – when I needed a question answered. I don’t think I have ever experienced such a high turnaround of questions asked and answers given before.

Towards the end of the study, I was getting a little nervous because, during the taking of the course, I also signed up for a couple of TEFL forums, where some people were complaining of steep charges being applied at the end of their courses for arbitrary certification and job support service fees. Thankfully this wasn’t my experience with the TEFL Online Pro program. After I had completed the final two units, they sent me a congratulatory email, requested that I confirm the full name for my documentation, and issued my documentation (letter of reference and TEFL certificate) on the same day and with no requests for further payment. Wow!

TEFL Online Pro runs a graduate job support service (also included within the course fee) so I took them up on this and without them, I would have been completely at sea. And, because of this support, I was on a plane a couple of weeks later to travel to my teaching post in HCMC, Vietnam.

I have been teaching in the same position since (there was a slight blimp because of COVID, but only for a month) and I think I’ll stay here. I love the culture, the living costs are very reasonable, Vietnam is located in a region where it is easy to get to and from, and… I love my job!

All in all, this was, has been, and is still a great choice of career path.

The Best places to teach English abroad in 2026.

The issue with using superlatives is that experiences are subjective and what one person will describe as being the best isn’t necessarily what another person will. So these 5 teaching English destinations are generally considered to be the best TEFL destinations of 2026, but shouldn’t be considered a set-in-stone compulsory list. Destinations are listed alphabetically. Remember: before buying your ticket and packing that travel bag, always research country entrance requirements and employment visa laws.

(1) Cambodia. The land of the Khmer has been developing at a steady rate in recent times and you will find little issue in finding a relatively well-paid teaching English job in the main cities of Battambang, Phnom Penh, or Siem Reap. Forget the image of teaching on a beach though – an increasing marketing ploy adopted by some TEFL schools to entice new students onto their courses – as it is in the cities where you will find teaching English positions. Wages vary, but generally speaking, you should expect to earn around USD 10 per hour with a TEFL certificate, with the hourly wage increasing slightly in Phnom Penh and decreasing slightly in Siem Reap. It is possible to apply for job positions from abroad, but more preferable to be in-country when you apply. See our 10 tips on finding a teaching English overseas job for more information on this. A degree is preferred, but not mandatory. USD 10 might not sound like much, but considering the generous affordability of day-to-day life, it will contribute to a much more than ample monthly salary. Plus, the locals are extremely warm and hospitable. And at the weekends when you might find yourself wanting a break from urban life? Well, there are all those beaches and islands in the south of the country to stretch out on while sipping chilled 75-cent Angkor beers and affordably munching on delicious seafood.

(2) China. It should come as no surprise to you that the world’s second-largest economy has become the largest TEFL market in the world. Teaching English jobs are easy to come by and the salaries are competitive: $1,500 – 2,000 USD per month on average. A degree in any subject is mandatory. No TEFL certification is required, but having one can often start you off in a higher-paid position. Given China’s strict visa policies, it is recommended to look for teaching English jobs whilst at home and apply from abroad. The top TEFL destinations within China are Beijing, Yangzhou, Harbin, Guilin, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Xi’an. The feedback we have received is that Chinese students are incredibly respectful of teachers and teachers are highly regarded throughout China. Plus, there are lots of public holidays and due to the low cost of living, you can expect to put away a sizeable chunk of your salary each month.

(3) Czechia. Formerly ‘The Czech Republic’, Czechia still retains the title as one of the must-go-to TEFL destinations in the world. It has everything you could wish for accessible countryside, a superb transport system, excellent local beers and wines, hearty cuisine, medieval castles, a favorable location in Central Europe and it’s a much more affordable location than Western Europe. Being a landlocked country though, it is missing the white sands and glistening azure of those beaches. Still, there are hundreds of lakes to choose from, should you have a desire to be close to a large body of water. It is still extremely easy to find teaching English jobs in Prague, but salaries have remained plateaued for some years now and it is no longer the amazing deal that it used to be. However, you should still expect to be earning in the general amount of USD 15 per hour, and around USD 20 if you teach privately. A degree is often stipulated, but in reality, just turning up armed with a TEFL certificate will get your foot in the door. See our FAQs for more information on this. You won’t come out rich, but the experience of teaching English in the Czech Bohemian, Moravian, and Silesian lands is priceless.

(4) Slovakia. Slovakia, you say? Yes, Slovakia! If you are tired of the hoards of tourists that seem to consume every street in Czechia’s capital, then we can recommend its smaller, former sibling: Slovakia. The two countries were, up until fairly recently, connected as one Czechoslovakia, but when the Slovaks voted for independence in 1992, both countries went their separate ways. Like Czech Moravia, Slovakia is steeped in folklore, and spending any time here you will have a sense that there are many traditions very much alive from many days past. Slovakia boasts some excellent cuisine, majestic mountains, and some of Europe’s friendliest people. Also, you can earn more in its capital city, Bratislava than you can in Prague. The hourly rate in Bratislava sits at around USD 20 per teaching hour, with daily costs being on par with Czechia’s capital city. Be warned though that once you venture out of Bratislava, salaries do drop. But prices also drop, so it is a logical trade-off. As with Czechia, it is best to look for work once you are in-country. The only real negative of teaching in Bratislava is the chronic shortage of available apartments for rent, so for the first month or so, you might want to rent a short-term room until you find something more permanent. Other cities in Slovakia where you can easily find teaching English work are Banska Bystrica, Kosice, Nitra, and Presov. Our tip though is to start in Bratislava, where you are an hour’s train ride from Vienna and from where you can easily access other locations within the welcoming, Slovak lands.

(5) Vietnam. Good morning! Vietnam has, in recent times, begun earning the moniker of ‘Asian Tiger’ in reflection of its booming economy. And wherever there is a boom in the economy there is a growing middle class, and wherever there is a growing middle class there is a surge in demand for English language tuition. If this list were ranked by the most favorable location, then Vietnam would be at the top. It has everything: mountains, picture-postcard coastlines, energetic metropolises, some of the world’s best coffee, outstanding food, and much, much more. The country is often (crudely) divided into north and south, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City being the default central hubs for English teachers looking to get on the teaching English gravy train. Salaries range from $1,000 to 2,000 USD per month, depending on the school you work for and your qualifications. Teaching English jobs are easy to come by, with the majority of ex-pats choosing to settle in Ho Chi Minh City. A university degree is mandatory for the work permit process, although it is sometimes possible to navigate around this rule. A TEFL certificate will increase your chances of finding work with more reputable companies. The cost of living is low and the options for travel throughout the region are endless. If we were to pick one location to start out teaching English abroad, it would be Vietnam.

MyTEFL was a good choice for me because I was looking for the perfect combination of low prices and quality course content.

The 120 Hour international TEFL certification course covers all of the main classroom topics and is the international gold standard for the teaching English abroad qualification.

I actually first heard about MyTEFL from a friend who recommended them to me after he had gone through their program and was teaching English out in China as a result.

A few months since I graduated from the MyTEFL program and I’m getting ready for my own TEFL journey: I’m flying out to Ho Chi Minh City next month to begin teaching for a national recruiter.

If you have no responsibilities back home and love travel, TEFL is a totally recommended option for you.

I recently completed the ICAL 120-hour tefl online certification course and I have a few complaints about this program, which set me back at only $265.00 all-inclusive. My online tutor was there to assist whenever I needed the help, with excellent feedback and an ocean of patience. The course was well-designed and logically followed what I was expecting from a teacher-training course. There were the usual suspects, such as grammar, but also their advertised practical tools & lesson ideas that have continued to aid me in the classroom. Course access was 24/7 and without technical issues. So regarding the course structure and support, I have no qualms. Everything worked like clockwork. I also liked how ICAL tefl is upfront about the salary you can expect to earn as a qualified English teacher. A few other schools quote much higher salaries on their websites which must be surely checked into as a case of false advertising because there is no way you can earn up to $4,000.00 a month in Vietnam. What ICAL tefl quoted as being possible to earn post-course was more realistic. The only ICAL course negatives I had were minor in comparison to the positives. My tefl course certificate was delivered electronically and I could have done with a hard copy of my certificate too. Not a big deal though as my school accepted the electronic version without hesitation. No real job guidance to speak of per se but I already had a job lined up so again this wasn’t a huge issue for me. My ICAL 120-hour tefl online certification course was a positive experience and contributed to the help I needed to secure my teaching job here in Taiwan. So, therefore, I recommend the investment.

I completed the 120-hour online Professional Course last year, through the MyTEFL Online TEFL certification program. Having already been in the TEFL teaching field for almost 3 years, I needed a quality TEFL certification because the rules here in Vietnam are changing and schools now often insist that you be TEFL certified. Plus it helps with your government paperwork. 

Despite my teaching experience, the course was still challenging for me and I gained essential new teaching tools which I have since used in my classes.
