I knew about this website from a website that linked this website as a way to get a TEFL certificate. Well, I thought to give it a shot and hoped there will be videos that I needed to watch. It turned out, they only have 10 topics to give to us and each topic only has around 12-16 pages, not to mention how big the ‘Stock Images’ pictures they use for each page. To complete the course, I did copy-paste the lessons. In Ms. Word. So. I. Can. Re-read. But anyway, all lessons are theory. I don’t think beginners will understand what the course is about.

The International Open Academy Online TEFL/TESOL just wasn’t worth it.

$499 International Open Academy Online TEFL course for only $8. Yep, you read right. A saving of $491. I jumped at it and experienced instant buyer’s remorse as soon as I sent the payment through.

The $8 price fee is actually a lie. Once you begin, you receive a lot of marketing spam; trying to convince you to upgrade to a “higher level course”.

The course could be taken by a five-year-old.

Buy an $8 English grammar book, and then choose a different course.

This is what I did.

The International Open Academy Online TEFL/TESOL just wasn’t worth it, and contacting anyone for a refund is like an endless back-and-forth loop that gets you absolutely nowhere.

Don’t expect ANY customer care whatsoever. Instead, expect frustrating hours while being left on hold, or (in some cases) receiving an automated response that their customer service line “was temporarily down”.

I just can’t understand the people who are recommending this program online. It was a horrible study experience and made me second-guess whether I wanted to continue with Tefl or not.

But there is a silver lining to this story.

Despite never receiving any refund from https://www.offers.internationalopenacademy.com/tefl/course/tesol-course, I decided to soldier on, and I’m now enrolled in the 120-Hour teflonlinepro.com international TEFL/TESOL program, and couldn’t be happier with the decision I made.

Found this course on Groupon for less than $10. It seemed too good to be true. And it was. It took me a day to complete this “120 hour” teaching English course and I think this says it all. It was full of grammatical errors too. I actually felt embarrassed taking it. A complete waste of my time and energy. The final slap in the face was when they told me I wouldn’t be receiving my certificate unless I paid $$$. Please avoid these jokers and choose a better TEFL course provider.
