Is TEFL Graduate Legit? A complete waste of time.

The 72% TEFL course discount TEFL Graduate runs continuously throughout the year should be enough to put you off taking a course through this program. What seems like a great deal at first glance isn’t when you look twice.

I found the TEFL Graduate staff rude and aloof. They charge extras for everything. Even for the certificate, which looks at best like a certificate ripped off of some far-flung corner of the internet and the TEFL Graduate logo added to make it seem all legit and above board.

You will be able to use the certificate. I did. My school only wanted to know if I had a TEFL certificate or not. However, you won’t learn anything on this course of real significance. When you calculate the extra costs this turns out not to be the cheap deal you thought you were getting.

TEFL Graduate demonstrated to me that they just don’t care about you once you’ve paid and started the course. They never answer emails. Never pick up the phone.

This is one of those TEFL mill courses I’d heard about and foolishly thought I’d avoided. If you are desperate for a quick fix TEFL certificate then ok, do it. If you want to learn about TEFL properly, so you feel properly prepared when you start teaching, don’t go with TEFL Graduate. I’ve been teaching for over a year now and whenever I want to have a laugh I show my TEFL Graduate certificate to my other teachers and we just fall into fits of laughter. Just type into Google TEFL certificate template and there you have the TEFL Graduate certificate, minus their logo.

I’m thinking about whether or not I should take another TEFL course because I just don’t know if the next school I apply to will have the same blase attitude to the quality of the certificate as my current school did.

Folks, please avoid these ridiculously cheap Groupon TEFL courses. I paid about $50 for mine, advertised as an 80% discount off the retail price. I know for a fact Groupon receives 50% of the sale, so the course was being offered for $25. Think about it. Would you pay for a foreign language 120-hour course $25? No, neither would I. Well, I did. But that’s my point. These Groupon cheapo courses are cheapo for a reason.

Purchased this course via Groupon for what seemed at first a bargain. When starting the course I quickly realized why it was going for such a low price. The course setup is very basic and when I took it would constantly experience issues with the tech side of it. It crashed twice – meaning twice I had my score reset to zero. I did learn something from this course but not nearly enough to prepare me for teaching English in a real classroom environment. With these super-cheap TEFL courses, you ultimately receive what you paid. I can only recommend this course if you have a spare 50 bucks lying around that you don’t mind getting rid of. Otherwise, invest a bit more because you won’t get your money’s worth with TEFL Graduate. Just my opinion.

I thought the course was very thorough and covered a lot of subjects that I hadn’t realized were important or relevant for teaching English abroad. It was a bit wordy but did also utilize the use of video learning well and there were quizzes throughout. My tutor was very prompt in answering my questions, although I didn’t find myself needing their guidance that much as I thought the course content was quite easy to take onboard. This is a very cheap course and this was seen in the odd grammatical mistakes here and there in the course texts but if you just need a Tefl certificate without the intensive training then this one will do you just fine. Tefl Graduate does charge you for the hard copy of your course certificate so you need to tally this into the course costs should you need a printed certificate. I was satisfied with my e-certificate and no school so far has requested the hard-copy version. Overall I would recommend Tefl Graduate if you are wanting to get Tefl certified to teach English overseas.

I only rated this TEFL Graduate 120-Hour Professional certification course 2 stars as it was very wordy and not very learner-friendly. My partner decided to swap and take another course from a different TEFL provider, which she found to be much better organized and overall a more professional-looking study experience. The course content is barely half of what is advertised and generally lacks content. I also wasn’t entirely happy with the grading system and thought it was lacking structure. For me, the only pro was the tutor help who was always prompt and polite. I’m not really sure if I can use this certificate overseas. Oh well, only time will tell if it was worth it or whether I just wasted a lot of time and money.
