Seeing as though I didn’t want to build on my student loan debt, I chose to study an online course and my internet search led me to choose UNI-Prep’s 120-hour TESOL certification course.

The pros of this course:

I took full advantage of the use of my tutor and she was very prompt in responding to my questions.

I appreciated the PDF formatting of the units as I was able to work offline as well as online.

The course price was reasonably priced compared with some other programs.

The audio-video components in the units integrated well with the reading tasks and contributed to a user-friendly study experience.

I could study at my own pace.

The cons of this course:

It was meant to take 120 hours but I completed it after a week with just a few hours of study per day.

The course includes a quiz which seemed a little pointless to me as the correct answers were not shown when you got a question wrong.

The sound quality on some of the videos wasn’t the best.

Their job guidance is a very deflating experience. I asked for this and was directed to a third-party job site.

I recently completed the 120-hour TEFL course through the My Tefl online program.

I liked how the course was structured. The units were not too long and at the end of each unit block, you have to complete a unit test, which is a fun way to review the unit content. It was a little surprising that there were some notable grammar mistakes in the units though.

MyTEFL were very prompt with their email responses to my questions and the tutor support was excellent.

I found their resource library to be really useful. Just a shame I couldn’t access it after the 90-day course study period.

The course is way less than the 120 hours advertised though. There definitely aren’t this many hours’ worth of material. I was holding down a full-time job when I took the course and was still able to get it all done in under 2 weeks, despite only studying a few nights a week and 2 weekends. I’d like to suggest that this course is more like a 50-hour course.

I really don’t know what the standard is for online TEFL courses because I’d never taken one before taking My TEFL’s. I was very satisfied with the outcome and I think this is a very good course for anyone wanting a basic TEFL overview.

The course was quite easy to follow and wasn’t the most in-depth course that I’ve ever taken but, I’d still recommend it because of where it gets you. TEFL is a great way to have the possibility of traveling and also being able to earn money on the way. I never knew an option like this was even possible until I saw one of my school friend’s Facebook updates one day and realized he was in Myanmar teaching English. I think TEFL is a great way to meet local cultures and a great way to extend your time abroad.

I don’t understand why, but it is very difficult to find INTESOL Worldwide reviews online. So I wanted to add mine here on trustedteflreviews.com.

Firstly, I’ll list the pros and then cons of taking this TEFL/TESOL certification course.

The 120-hour course price is reasonable and is a way more affordable alternative to in-class TEFL courses.

I had no problems with the sign-up process and there were no hidden, extra costs.

The study content was excellent. It was interesting and made me feel excited about when I would be teaching English myself.

I don’t know why in hell, but they just have stock images on their official school website. It just devalues their look and gives off a cheesy vibe.

Their accreditation is a joke. INTESOL’s website reads: ‘INTESOL Worldwide TEFL | TESOL courses are accredited and certified by ALAP (Awarding Language Acquisition for Professionals), a UK-based Awarding Organisation. ALAP is an accrediting organization that specializes in the ELT industry.’ When you visit their website, you get to pages with more stock photos and really vague language. They don’t even list the names of the schools which they accredit.

I read the FAQs here and was surprised to learn that there is no single TEFL/TESOL accreditation body. So never choose a course because of who they are accredited by or if they are or not. It just doesn’t matter.

Still though, INTESOL Worldwide get 3 stars from me as the course was excellent.

Money was tight and there were no onsite TEFL or TESOL certification classes available in the local area so my choice was limited to online TEFL/TESOL certification. I chose the ITTT 120-Hour TEFL online course because they advertised Technical Support and Job Guidance. Mixed emotions really. Overall, I felt the course was good and the detailed review of grammar was helpful. I was disappointed there were no video or interactive tutorials, but I see now that these are only offered together with the 220-Hour Master Package. I was also really impressed with the phonetics section in which the phonic chart was introduced and I refer back to this up until this day for use in my classes. The “Lifetime Job Support” was pretty meh and I found myself not needing it as soon as my foot was in the door of my first paid teaching job. They will help you take the first steps to find a teaching English abroad job, but it’s little more than a list of schools and I was expecting more. Not sure if they’ll keep doing this for the rest of your life and not sure if you’ll really need it either when you are 90. Their certificate does look great: embossed and shiny. So overall, I’d say the course was pretty good but the price of the course – including the time extension – really added up and made for an overall expensive program. I can’t really say I would recommend ITTT, but I’m sure you can do much worse.

I did this tefl online i-to-i tesol course in the summer of 2017.

It honestly seemed that everything was set up for you not to fail. There was a strong whiff of tefl mill covered all over it. Tasks were structured in a way to encourage a certain answer and I didn’t learn a great deal on it. Would have been better to buy a book about teaching English because the level of tuition was so basic.

Something I noticed about all these online tefl courses is they run limited-time discounts which always run and I-TO-I was no different in this respect. I rushed to enroll to take advantage of the limited-time discount but 6 months later the exact same discount was still running. Which made me even more skeptical about this program.

The point I want to make is I-TO-I provides certification which does the job of getting you certified to teach English in foreign countries but don’t expect a challenging course where you will learn a whole much. It has been set up in such a way that you can’t possibly fail and this is what their 120-hour course seems to be designed for. If you just need a tefl certificate for the sake of having one then choose I-TO-I. If you need something a bit more intense then my advice is to choose another school.

Some technical issues were paying for the course and TEFL Org UK was excellent with their online support. Finally managed to make payment and I was all good to go. Alejandra was the support person who helped me so if you reading this… thank you again, Alejandra!

I hadn’t taken any courses online before and possibly won’t in the future either so the 120-hour TEFL Org UK online certification course was a unique experience for me. It was a simple process of completing sections as you go and for me, the most difficult of these was the English grammar teachings. I feel a bit embarrassed but before the course, I hadn’t a clue about the difference between a noun and a verb so I did struggle quite a bit with understanding all the new grammar rules. I’m fairly confident now that I remember most of what was covered but when I start teaching I’ll make sure to have a grammar book on me at all times.

I can’t comment on their job search support because I’m in my 2nd year of college and won’t be looking to teach English abroad for a while yet. But when I do I’ll contact their friendly team again and look forward to being on my way. I would love to one day teach English in Brazil!

The 120 hours TEFL course provided by Premier TEFL Online is well thought out and I especially appreciated the 6 months limit to complete the course because my initial enthusiasm began to wane once I’d started and what with work and all I ended up needing the full 6 months. My bad. I also appreciated the lesson planning guide and grammar ebook which came complimentary. Overall a good choice

I haven’t taken an online course before so I can’t really compare it to any others. The sign-up process was smooth and I was given access to the course promptly. I chose the My TEFL 120-hour course because it seemed to tick all the right boxes for me. The course itself seemed pretty thorough and I liked the visual aspects of the learning aids. I did have access to a personal tutor but I didn’t find myself needing the help so I can’t comment on that side of their service. All in all, it was a pretty solid course and I managed to complete it in under a month. What I did think was seriously lacking though was post-course support and although I am teaching now (after a lot of footwork and knocking on virtual doors) when I signed up for the course I thought I was going to receive more help from My TEFL with finding work and for this reason, I’m leaving a 3-star review. I’d recommend My TEFL but be prepared that after the course there probably won’t be much support. At least for me, there wasn’t.
