Is the Course Mix TEFL Legit? I don’t recommend a Course Mix TEFL course online.

Well, what can I say? This was a TOTAL waste of time and money.

I paid £24.00 for the “discounted” version of the course. The Course Mix TEFL website claims the course is normally offered at £249.99. So at first glance, a saving of £225.99 looks enticing. I took this complete waste of a time course a year ago almost to the day and it’s still being offered at £24.00. I’m not sure whether this constitutes a scam, but at the very least it’s misleading. I’d put good money into the course having never been offered at £249.99. The incredible discount is just there to lure in unsuspecting people- unfortunately, myself included.

I want to write that the course taught me something, but it didn’t. This is an extremely basic course. You read a short piece of text, you take a ridiculously easy test, you read another short piece of text, etc. I completed the whole of this “120-hour” course in one afternoon. It took me 4 hours to complete. In the end, you have the choice of printing out a PDF of the certificate (I was half expecting it to have unicorns on it) or you can purchase a hardcopy for £99—a complete joke. I can’t see how any employer would accept such a certificate. Besides, you don’t learn anything on the course so I also can’t see anyone passing an interview with the “knowledge” accumulated from this course.

A little bit about my background first. I’m not a native English speaker (from Czechia) but I speak English at a Proficiency level. My Mother is Czech, and my Father is German, so I’m not able to apply for the same types of jobs that native English speakers routinely can. Despite this, I was offered a short-term teaching position at a kindergarten type of school in the south of Thailand, and despite just being offered a six-month “contract” it was requested that I quickly take a TEFL course online. I don’t know why but I wanted the job so badly and quickly looked around for a no-thrills certificate online course. The Course Mix TEFL came up and ignoring the reviews I enrolled, passed, and was able to satisfy the school Principal of my teaching “credentials”. I can see the reason for the negative reviews-I’m not on here to justify this course if you just badly need a TEFL certificate pronto, you could look into this course as a last option. I wouldn’t recommend it if you need to be competitive in the job market, but if you just need a piece of paper that says TEFL on it then why not go with this incredibly cheap option?

This is an absolute joke of a TEFL course. I completed it in one day. Yep, you heard right. In ONE frigin’ day. I don’t want to write much here except for one useful piece of advice, and this is not to waste your money by doing a TEFL course through Groupon. True, the prices are extraordinarily low, but you will just be throwing your money at the wall. Pay more and you’ll get more. The Course Mix TEFL should be avoided!

The Course Mix claims to offer over 200 online training courses and one of these is a TEFL course they have on offer: discounted from £249.99 down to £24.00. I would wager that nobody has ever paid the full £ 249.99-course fee price. It’s advertised as covering 90 hours of tuition but this is a very generous description of the number of hours needed to complete this course. You won’t learn anything of major value and it’s just set up to lure people in by its fantastically low price. I’m now looking to do another TEFL course: one that follows the 120-hour standard requirement and one that isn’t a complete waste of money and time.

If there were the option of zero stars this course would deserve it and I really should have known better purchasing a course at an 88% discount. Was £249.99 and I bought it for £24.00. I foolishly thought it was one of those special once in a year special discounts they have over in the States on Black Friday. As soon as I got started I almost immediately regretted my decision. It’s advertised as a 90-hour recommended, comprehensive tefl certification course with personal tutor support but I completed it over a short, wet weekend and it was anything but comprehensive. Just simply lacks any real depth and is quite laughable. I’d like to meet anyone who paid the 249 because I don’t think this course has ever been sold for this price. A complete waste of my time and money.
