I finished the 120-hour course last week and wanted to write my review while the information was still fresh in my head.

I’m going to break down the key parts of the course and then write a short conclusion.

1. I paid for the course with my credit card, but you can also use a debit card or pay with PayPal.
2. After a few minutes, I received a few emails from TEFL Online Pro which contained my password and username to access my course. I was also issued a receipt for my purchase.
3. Between paying and receiving my login information, I had access to the course within just a few minutes.
4. About half an hour later, I received a personalized email from TEFL Online Pro, welcoming me to the course and introducing me to my online tutors who would be there for me if I had any questions.
5. The online tutor support turned out to be priceless because it was 24/7 support. I’m a bit of a night owl and had support from my tutors at any time of the day or night.
6. The course is segmented into 12 modules and there are two bonus modules at the end, so 14 in total. You get quizzed after each module so it meant no big test at the end.
7. The topics covered in the course are the same as the ones covered in the CELTA course, which means you cover all the essentials of teaching English. The two bonus modules were Teaching Young and Younger Learners and Teaching Business English.
8. I had to create two lesson plans, which were graded and sent back to me with notes on areas for improvement.
9. I completed the course in two weeks and within 24 hours I received the digital certificate and a letter of recommendation. There was the option to have a hardcopy certificate posted to me but I will be teaching online so figured the digital certificate would be all I need.
10. After this, I gained access to the TEFL Online Pro online and international job guidance team. They were as efficient and helpful as my 24/7 online tutors were.
11. I interviewed for a teaching job online yesterday and today I was formally accepted. I start teaching next Monday.

What stood out for me about this program was the fantastic customer support, and how much is covered in the course. I could easily see this course selling for two or three times the price because it is that good.

From a satisfied customer’s perspective, I highly recommend the TEFL Online Pro program.

I graduated from the 120-hour program at the end of 2020. It took me two weeks to complete the course. I enjoyed the classes, the flexibility, and the support from the school. I have taken other online courses and I can say that when it comes to having support and people being there for you, TEFL Online Pro wins hands down. My tutor was extremely helpful. Always quick to respond when help was needed with anything from explaining Phonics in more detail to help with writing my resume. The jobs support service was equally helpful in explaining where to apply online and helped me avoid applying to any schools that have a poor reputation. As well as the TEFL/TESOL certificate I also received a letter of recommendation, which helped a lot during the school hiring process. When I was accepted for a teaching job I was just given 10 working hours in my first 2 weeks. In my third week, the school filled up my schedule so I now literally have to refuse more lessons. I am so busy! I think those first two weeks acted as a probation period so the school could see if I was a reliable person. I’ve chatted online with other teachers and this was also their experience, so I’m guessing this is normal for all schools. Returning to the theme of the course, I recommend it and rate it 4.5 stars out of 5. If you are willing to put in the hours and are not expecting a cakewalk TEFL mill, TEFL Online Pro is a great choice.

Once you buy your Premier TEFL online TEFL/TESOL certification course access, you’ll find that the requests for money don’t stop there. It’s a bit like booking a flight and having to pay for extra add-ons, with the 15 Euro for a PDF of proof of course study a bit of a slap in the face really. They even nickel and dime you for a certificate hard copy. It’s a shame because as far as the course goes it’s decent, and the course layout is clear. They did help me to find a job after the course, but it hasn’t been the best of experiences and I’m paid a lot less than most of my colleagues who work in other schools. If I were given the choice to take the course again, I probably wouldn’t. I just feel that Premier TEFL should be more upfront about the additional costs in the course sign-up process and could be more forthcoming with their post-course job assistance. The course was fine though and without major issues.

Money was tight and there were no onsite TEFL or TESOL certification classes available in the local area so my choice was limited to online TEFL/TESOL certification. I chose the ITTT 120-Hour TEFL online course because they advertised Technical Support and Job Guidance. Mixed emotions really. Overall, I felt the course was good and the detailed review of grammar was helpful. I was disappointed there were no video or interactive tutorials, but I see now that these are only offered together with the 220-Hour Master Package. I was also really impressed with the phonetics section in which the phonic chart was introduced and I refer back to this up until this day for use in my classes. The “Lifetime Job Support” was pretty meh and I found myself not needing it as soon as my foot was in the door of my first paid teaching job. They will help you take the first steps to find a teaching English abroad job, but it’s little more than a list of schools and I was expecting more. Not sure if they’ll keep doing this for the rest of your life and not sure if you’ll really need it either when you are 90. Their certificate does look great: embossed and shiny. So overall, I’d say the course was pretty good but the price of the course – including the time extension – really added up and made for an overall expensive program. I can’t really say I would recommend ITTT, but I’m sure you can do much worse.

I did this tefl online i-to-i tesol course in the summer of 2017.

It honestly seemed that everything was set up for you not to fail. There was a strong whiff of tefl mill covered all over it. Tasks were structured in a way to encourage a certain answer and I didn’t learn a great deal on it. Would have been better to buy a book about teaching English because the level of tuition was so basic.

Something I noticed about all these online tefl courses is they run limited-time discounts which always run and I-TO-I was no different in this respect. I rushed to enroll to take advantage of the limited-time discount but 6 months later the exact same discount was still running. Which made me even more skeptical about this program.

The point I want to make is I-TO-I provides certification which does the job of getting you certified to teach English in foreign countries but don’t expect a challenging course where you will learn a whole much. It has been set up in such a way that you can’t possibly fail and this is what their 120-hour course seems to be designed for. If you just need a tefl certificate for the sake of having one then choose I-TO-I. If you need something a bit more intense then my advice is to choose another school.

Some technical issues were paying for the course and TEFL Org UK was excellent with their online support. Finally managed to make payment and I was all good to go. Alejandra was the support person who helped me so if you reading this… thank you again, Alejandra!

I hadn’t taken any courses online before and possibly won’t in the future either so the 120-hour TEFL Org UK online certification course was a unique experience for me. It was a simple process of completing sections as you go and for me, the most difficult of these was the English grammar teachings. I feel a bit embarrassed but before the course, I hadn’t a clue about the difference between a noun and a verb so I did struggle quite a bit with understanding all the new grammar rules. I’m fairly confident now that I remember most of what was covered but when I start teaching I’ll make sure to have a grammar book on me at all times.

I can’t comment on their job search support because I’m in my 2nd year of college and won’t be looking to teach English abroad for a while yet. But when I do I’ll contact their friendly team again and look forward to being on my way. I would love to one day teach English in Brazil!

TEFL Express review, submitted by John.

In all fairness, tefl express should receive 2.5 stars but there wasn’t an option on here for me to do that. 3 stars it is then.

Also, I saw a link to this site when I was up late and flicking through Quora and I haven’t recently finished the course. I completed my tefl express 160-hour (premier plus) tefl course a few years down the road now so my impressions might not necessarily be valid for a tefl express course in 2019. Either way, I have a bit of time on my hands and wanted to share my impressions with anyone out there thinking of purchasing the course I took.

I noticed some other reviewers on this site have been categorizing their reviews into pros and cons so that is what I am also going to do in my tefl express review.

Pros

1. This first one might be a potential negative for some but for me, it worked out to be a major positive. Basically, you get 75 days to complete the course from the moment your study time is activated and I think that although for some people this might throw up some serious issues down the line, from my perspective it helped motivate me to get on with the course and force me to get it done within a reasonable time frame. I had a mate who had 6 months to complete his and well, he spent 6 months on his course; taking his time until the last fortnight when he studied like a fiend so he wouldn’t have to pay an extension fee. I found my enthusiasm decreased after I’d paid, logged in and when the reality of what I was undertaking reality hit me, so this condensed time period was the perfect way to set a fire under my butt and make sure I didn’t lose focus.
2. Despite what others have said in their reviews of the tefl express program, I thought the course was pretty extensive and from time to time I still refer back to my original course notes when I can’t find a similar reference point online.
3. I’m teaching English overseas (Nagoya, Japan) and although my general impressions of tefl express were negative, I have met a few teachers who also went through the program so schools should recognize the tefl express name when it comes to applying for tefl jobs.

Cons

1. The big no-no for me was discovering my course offered in a Groupon deal with a significant discount. If I’d purchased through Groupon, I would have saved near on a couple of hundred bucks. Because of this business model, I felt cheated and began questioning the validity and reputation of tefl express.
2. There were multiple times when I couldn’t log on or when there was a bug in the system. This left me extremely frustrated because I set aside certain study times for myself and not being able to always study when I wanted to heap more pressure on that limited course limit.
3. I would say that I came away with a slightly bitter taste in my mouth after finding out at the end that I was required to make an additional payment for a hard copy of my certificate. Guess I should have read the small print. It was only about 30 bucks, but I felt taken advantage of. My certificate though did arrive in a matter of days and does look professional. Well, these were my impressions. As I wrote, I can’t vouch for how the school is run now as I took my tefl express online certification a few years back. Hope it helps! John.

Choosing your online TEFL course can seem overwhelming in light of the many courses offered in this growing market. Here are 5 features that take courses from zero to hero.

Reviews.

A course must have trusted reviews that are not simply published on a blog or website owned by an enthusiastic graduate, and written by a said graduate. No matter how satisfied you were with your course, it is regular behavior to perhaps leave a review of your online TEFL course experience online. But, it is highly odd behavior to pay money for a domain and to start a website, singing the praises of a particular program. The internet is awash with fake, glowing testimonials of such and such a TEFL program and you should learn to differentiate between the planted reviews and the authentic ones. A growing trend that we have noticed is the business of affiliate reviews. These tend to demonstrate themselves in the form of course graduates working hard to bring in new course students while earning a commission for themselves, and totally undermines the practice of fair feedback on the web. So if you feel drawn towards a particular course because of its wonderful student feedback, we advise checking that their reviews haven’t been written by overzealous graduates, who might have taken the time and energy to start a school review website and who might request that you mention a certain code when applying for the course. In these cases, you are being sold a course through a graduate who might not have had such a wonderful course experience as they write, but who instead simply wants a cut of your course fee. Tutor support.

Picture yourself setting out on a month-long trek, in a part of the world that you haven’t explored before and no little about. You have all your equipment at the ready, but you are unsure of which routes to take that will enhance your overall experience. Logically, in this scenario, you would ideally want to have a local guide with you. The role of an online tutor is similar: he or she will help you through the course and be at the ready when you have any questions, and their feedback and advice will be invaluable in ensuring that you get the most out of your online learner experience. It is paramount to check which type of online tutor support you will be receiving. Some schools offer the whole shebang – meaning a dedicated person who will personally respond to your questions in real-time. While some may advertise this service, in reality, you will be directed to a list of FAQs when you find yourself requiring assistance.

Business English and teaching young and very young learner modules.

Online TEFL courses tend to be divided into modules and most course providers generally include the same modules in their offers. These typically cover essential grammar, teaching techniques, classroom management, etc. While these subjects do make for essential inclusion within a course, it is also important to gain some knowledge with regard to the types of students which you can expect to be teaching once you have graduated and find yourself in the first lesson of your new teaching classroom. Even if you have no desire of teaching teenagers/children, or business English, you never know when you might need these additional skills and you should view these modules as backup options, should you find yourself doing a 180. Plus, these modules are often noted on your course certificate and can further your English teaching job abroad application.

Your course certificate is in hard copy and e-format.

Whilst most language schools will accept an electronic version of your online TEFL course certificate as part of the application process, it is also recommended that your course provider also issue a hard copy, through the post, that you can keep as a backup should a language school insist on receiving this version. Besides, you have paid good money for a certification course so you should expect a good quality certificate upon course completion. Check with the course provider if they offer a time guarantee in when you will receive your (posted) certificate. Ideally, you want to be receiving both your hard copy and e-form certificate within a couple of weeks of submitting your final course module. Once again, some course providers tend to go a bit limp on their service once the course sign-up process is complete and when they won’t be receiving any more money from you. Check the reviews on Trusted TEFL Reviews to see if there are any red flags raised in regard to this. Also, check that receiving your certificate doesn’t incur additional fees. You shouldn’t have to pay to receive your certificate.

Job guidance and after-course support.

It is also essential that your online TEFL course includes constructive help in finding a teaching job and ongoing support after course graduation. Again, these are both advertised by most course providers, but in reality, they come in different forms. Regarding job guidance, you need to make certain during the course application process – before handing over any money – that the support provided doesn’t simply consist of them sending you a list of schools after course completion. Anyone can find a list of schools by quickly checking names and places on the internet. What you should be striving for is a school that does more – such as helping you choose which country to teach in, assisting with your teaching English overseas CV, providing tips on interview techniques, writing a reference for you, etc. And this support shouldn’t end here. A year or two down the road, you might decide to teach in another location and here the advice of the school will again be indispensable. And what if you find yourself coming up against a brick wall with either your language school or the country visa process? Once more, you would require professional feedback from your online course provider.

In conclusion, don’t just take what is written on a school’s website as necessarily representative of what the school actually offers, because the service you are expecting, in your mind, might not correlate with what is actually provided. Online TEFL school owners will dance through hoops to get you to sign up to one of their courses. You need to make sure that they will dance through the same hoops once you have completed your course and when it isn’t necessarily in their financial or time interests to maintain excellent service.

Pros

Maximo Nivel provided me with the tools needed to acquire online TEFL certification and begin teaching English abroad. Their course support network is excellent and they came over as being genuinely nice people. Course materials were easy to work through and included teaching practice sessions through Skype. Received my certificate within a few weeks of course completion and worldwide job support was available upon request.

Cons

I heard a lot of negative feedback with regard to their internships, which is why I decided to look for work myself.
