Is Teflen Legit? A good Online TESOL course option.

I feel the best description of the Teflen Online TESOL course should go along the lines of that it will get the job done but don’t expect any particularly amazing customer service. This isn’t necessarily a negative if you are reading this and just wanting to get the TESOL certificate and nothing else but I did have a few issues along the way and I never did get replies back to my questions. Oh, and Teflen, you need to update your Facebook Page because as of today you have made zero posts this year on it! And also, disabling the Facebook review tab doesn’t look good. Just my 2 cents worth here. I’m not trying to go out of my way to be critical. Trying to be of some help.

OK, but as I wrote, if you are just wanting the TESOL certificate and aren’t after all the bells and whistles of customer service then I would recommend this course because of what they teach you.

So this 4-star review is for the course, not the overall experience.

To be honest, I would have given the course 5 stars but Teflen was having server issues when I took their 120-hour course which resulted in the system being down for a couple of days and also resulted in having some of my saved work erased.

But again, the course is bordering on excellence.

I was a total noob enrolled in the Teflen course and had zilch knowledge of TESOL. Nada.

The course starts nice and easy – building up gradually – and by the end, I was honestly surprised by how much information I had attained. The videos were cool. As was the layout of the unit texts.

You do pay for the certificate at the end and you won’t get any help in any way with the next stage of job hunting, but when I read some of the reviews here I see quite a lot of schools follow this business model.

When I did begin teaching I often referred back to the Teflen course units. After 2 years of teaching, I’m still using some of the activities that were presented in the course.

Is Teflen legit? Yes, it is. As legit as most of the other Online TEFL TESOL courses you will probably run into while you research online.

Just after completing TEFL with Teflen, I feel comfortable advising other students about the course:

1. It’s a lot harder than you think or expect. I felt completely lost on the grammar modules The information provided was a bit vague in sections, meaning I needed the help of other resources to move from one module to the next.
2. The course content was good. There were issues with video content taking forever to stream, even though I am working with high-speed internet. When I asked Teflen they replied that it must be some issue with my internet connection.
3. The format of the Teflen course could at times appear unclear and clumsy. Noticed a few red-flag typos too.
4. It took a while for my certificate to be delivered and it was clear then that I wouldn’t receive much help at all in finding work.

My take on the Teflen course is that it was worth it, but you will find yourself pulling your hair out at times because of the overly complex grammar sections and you probably won’t hear back from them when you contact Teflen after the course.

I liked this course because it was a way that I could get tefl qualified online- thus saving a whole heap of cash in the process- and I was able to study at my own pace. They run 4 courses -Elementary, Foundation, Advanced, and Master. I took the 120-Hour Advanced course which I found to be really easy to follow, with course information clearly laid out in a student-friendly format. My main reason actually for choosing Teflen was because they were the only online tefl course that didn’t try to catch me by offering a massive discount on their course. Sure I paid more than I would have with another school, but I’d rather pay more and receive a quality education. And this is what I did receive. They also helped me find work after so this was another bonus. The only thing missing was some in-depth tuition for teaching English to children and for specific purposes, but I didn’t want to shell out on the 150 Hour Master course and despite this felt that I received excellent training. This is definitely an online tefl course worth considering when searching for one to take.
